There is a brand new school being built for this fall, Chenal elementary, it is part of the Pulaski county special school district. We live in Maumelle, and were granted a transfer.. it is supposed to be an AWESOME school.
Good Luck!

My husband and I are moving our family to Little Rock this summer and my daughter will be starting kindergarten in the fall. We are moving into Villages of Wellington and the school is Terry Elem. I've done some internet research and driven by the school. But, we've decided this is not the right fit for us. We were hoping to buy into the Baker School zone. I've spoken with the placement counselor at Little Rock school district and she gave us the names of two Magnet schools we could look into : Carver & Booker. Booker gets great reviews from parents. But, I was surprised that both schools still didn't have great test scores. And, Private school is not a road we want to go down.
So, that leads me to my question. Where do people who live in this area send their kids? What do you hear about these Magnet schools I've mentioned? I don't know anything about this city but I need to know low down so I can get my child enrolled.
We found out that our Realtor didn't know what the heck she was talking about and we are actually in the Baker school district. YAY!

I don't know about Booker, but Carver seems to be good. I have applied to teach there, and have heard nothing but good things about it. They have a Young Astronaut program that sounds fabulous! Good luck!
We sent our children to Baker and would again. We lived in the area of Cooper Orbit Road area, this is the Y before you get to Baker. There are some really nice homes there around the Lake Nixon area. Lake Nixon has a swimming area that the kids always liked. The Church at Rock Creek is in Little Rock as well. It is the best in my opinion. If you visit one time you will see why.

I went to Booker many..many years ago right after it opened and loved it. Yes, I was bused in and it was far but some of my experiences there I will forever remember. My teachers were wonderful. Now, as far as the other schools in Little Rock go..well, my husband and I chose to move out of Little Rock so our kids would not have to go to LIttle Rock. I am a product of the Little Rock School District and I don't think that I turned out bad. I know that there are some wonderful teachers in the district that love what they are doing. I also think that it continues at home and if we as parents are teaching our kids the importance of getting an education that they will apply themselves at school to. I am sure that whatever you and your husband decide will be the best decision for you and your children. Best of Luck to you!!
