Do you have any cream of chicken or cream of mushroom? Hahahaha! I am from Minnesota and have seen some crazy hotdishes. It seems like some people get out the cream soup, blindfold themselves and start emptying their refrigerator into a mixing bowl and call it a casserole! :)
I'll get out the church cookbook that I got from my husband's grandma for Christmas and update this post!

Okay K., do you have a crockpot and a way to plug it in? I plug mine in at church and just tote it down to the park when we have potlucks. You can either make this ahead of time and then use the crockpot to heat it, or you can start the cooking process when you wake up in the morning and then plug it in again at church.
Seriously, this one doesn't even have a name except "hotdish". :)
1 lb. ground beef
2 onions, sliced
3 carrots, thinly sliced
4 potatoes, thinly sliced
1/2 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp pepper (which is like flaming hot sauce to half of my community)
1 cup cold water
1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
10 3/4 oz. can of cream of mushroom soup
1/4 cup milk
and again- 1/2 tsp salt and 1/8 tsp. pepper
Layer in a greased crockpot: ground beef, onions, carrots, salt and pepper.
In a mixing bowl, disolve cream of tartar in the water and toss potatoes in the water - drain.
Combine soup and milk. Toss with potatoes. Add second installment of salt and pepper. Place potatoes in slow cooker over other ingred..
Cover - cook on low for 7-8 hours
You can also do tator tot hotdish - PM if you need a recipe
Goulash:
1 box of elbow macaroni -cooked to pkg. directions
1 lb. ground beef
1 small onion, chopped
1 jar spaghetti sauce - or more, depending on your tastes
Brown ground beef with the chopped onion until meat is no longer pink. Mix with the cooked pasta and stir in sauce.
If you really want to impress them - put some shredded mozzerella on the top. ;)
Pour into a crockpot and put on low to heat. 2-3 hours
I also have a Hamburger Rice hotdish recipe but it's not for the crock pot. I will try to find the recipe for you.
This is fun! I hope you brush up on your "How To Talk Minnesotan" for the occasion! ;)
