I need to replace my broken glasses. I've had the eye exam but need a place to get glasses, regular and sun, at a reasonable price in the McKinney/Plano area. Any ideas? Any place I should avoid? Thanks! I love this website!

Do not got to the Sam's on Ohio in Plano. I had a bifocal script, not complicated and after 3 tries it was still not right. If you can write down the brand & style number of the frames, you can shop the lenses. Nothing is cheap these days, a pair of glasses will cost $200 plus. Nana

Sam's is not that bad as well and you do not need a memebership card to purchase glasses/contacts there.

My husband has gone to Walmart Vision Center for years and has been very happy with price, quality and service.

I think Costco has the best price for quality service. I even think that Consumer Report rated them #1. I know I saved $200 purchasing prism glasses for my daughter there.
Good Luck!

My husband got his at Sears in Collin Creek. They were two for one so he got one pair of regular and one pair of sunglasses. Call them to see if they are having a special.

Instead of buying 2 pairs of glasses (regular & sun), why not invest in one pair of really good glasses (good frames) and get the lenses that darken automatically in the sun? That way you won't have to be changing back & forth and you can afford to buy some good quality frames. I just got my lenses replaced and my frames were so good that I was able to only replace the lenses, even though my frames were 6 years old. I bought them at the optical shop in JC Penney at the Collin Creek Mall. They have a really great selection of stylish frames, not cheap, but definitely good quality and worth every penny. (not a joke)

We use Dr Jennifer Patterson in Frisco, next to Toys R Us. They are very nice and helpful.

My personal feelings as an Optician, is that you go to a private Dr. for your glasses. Those big places treat you as a number, not a patient. If you break your glasses again within a year or two, a private Dr. is more likely to replace them at no charge . Stay away from Dr. Codianne at First Eye Care on Parker in Plano though, they fired me only because I was a new hire and I became pregnant (and made the mistake of telling them). I was able to collect unemployment for 9 months due to their insensitivity, though, so it did work out for me!!LOL Whatever you decide, ask about the frame warranty. All frame manufacturers provide at least a 1 year warranty on the frame, If the place you go does not offer that minimum warranty, they will charge you to replace your broken fame even if they get the new one for free. That bit of knowledge can be a valuable negotiating tool.
