My son's been with our current pediatric group since newborn but I'm not happy with them. The one doctor I liked left the group last year and the remaining doctors I'm unhappy with. At my son's two year old check-up yesterday, I was highly disappointed. The doctor didn't ask my son any questions (to check his speech development), just the basic listen to heart, lungs, look in mouth ears, take temp, height, weight, etc. A friend of mine said her son's two year old checkup was different than her son's previous appointments because the doctor checked his speech by talking to him/asking questions. Because of this thorough exam, the doctor discovered that her son's speech wasn't where it should be so he's now in speech therapy. I have some concerns about my son and asked the doctor about them but just got the basic " he looks great, I don't think you should worry" response. I need a doctor who's more into the child as a whole person not just broken bones and immunization updates. If anyone knows of a great pediatrician can you please give me their name (and number if you have it)? We're in the San Pedro/Torrance California area. Thank you so much!

I am also currently looking for a pediatrician as mine moved to Carson and I don't want to drive that far. In a couple of weeks I'm taking my 9 month old up the hill to Dr. Jim Flores's practice. Dr. Flores is no longer taking new patients but I've heard wonderful things about the rest of the doctors in his office. I'm seeing Dr. Donne Segal. If you send me an email in a couple of weeks I'll let you know how it went.
Our boys see Dr Segal in Dr Flores' office and LOVE her. She is friendly, outgoing and great with kids. She has two young kids (under 3) herself and knows what it is like being a young mom. We sometimes see other doctors if we go in for a sick visits and they are fantastic as well.
I would highly recommend Sylia Mansour. She is wonderful! All three of my boys just adore her. She is warm and caring and takes the time to sit and talk with the kids. Her checkup appts are scheduled for an extra 15 minutes to allow her to ask questions and spend time with the kids. She is on Earl street behind Little Company of Mary. Goof Luck!

My son is almost 2 years old and has been going to the same pediatrician since birth and he loves her! Dr. Alice Goldin at 20911 Earl St in Torrance is an excellent pediatrician and so is Dr. Kim (with whom she works with). Hope this helps!
