I had my husbands at Dave and Busters! Everyone had a great time! food, pool, beer & drinks for about 700!

My husband is turning 40 in May, and I wanted to have surprise birthday party for him. My house is too small to fit the 60-70 guests so I am looking for either a place that can be rented (that allows alcohol) or a family friendly restaurant where I can reserve a room for a private party. My budget would be around $1,000 to include the rental fee, food and drinks. I would appreciate any suggestions. I live in Carrollton, but would consider having the party in Dallas.
Thanks to everyone for their suggestions. I have booked a party at Abuelo's. It seemed to be the most economonical and they are giving us a private party room. I found a lot of places charge a room rental fee and have minimum food and beverage requirements. Abuelo's did not have a room rental fee and the food and beverage requirements were minimal.

We had my husband's 40th at the Down Under Pub in Frisco. They have an area in the back with pool tables and games and they have a band. We ordered appitizers for the whole party but people can order individually off the menu too. They didn't charge us to have our party there. They don't totally reserve the whole game room for you but they give you reserved areas.
I have had two B-day parties for my Hubby at the Movie Tavern -www.movietavern.com
The marketing sales lady that had helped us in the past is Erin - Tell her I am with Century 21 & the name Montana (her college roommate!) and that might help her jog her memory!

I recently had a surprise party for my husbands 30th and I looked everywhere for reasonable rates for rentals. There were several to choose from. Sneaky Petes on Lake Lewisville, Lil Petes on Lake Grapevine and the Magic Time Machine in Addison. They all have private room rentals with options for food and liquor. You should gives those a try. Good Luck with your search it's a tough one I know.
I would suggest a chinese restaurant that has a habachi grill. We did that one time for one of the doctors birthday and everyone loved it. Most chinese restaurants have it in a private party area.
I second the idea for Dave and Busters. We had our party at Main Event which is like Dave & Busters, and it was great for everyone. Food, drinks, games for the kids as well as the adults. Good luck!
My husband turns 40 next year and I'm thinking about taking him to Vegas. He doesn't have a lot of close friends, so a party might be a bit depressing, so I'm thinking we would invite 1-2 people and make it a big party weekend.
He didn't do too well turning 30, so I'm a bit scared about him turning 40...
Have you looked into any of the Grapevine Wineries? That would be such a neat place for a surprise party!
