Go healthy: serve TREES!
Summer Trees: Broccoli (green like the leaves in summer)
Winter Trees: Cauliflower (white like snow covered in winter)
hi moms,
I am needing ideas for a snack beginning with the letter "t" and the theme is turtle for that day. It is for a preschool class. Any ideas would be great. thank you
Go healthy: serve TREES!

For preschool, I would suggest Twizzlers (licorice)- most kids that age will like it. Good luck. If not try twinkies
Cut a green apple in half and remove the seeds. Insert four thin pretzel sticks for legs, a short one for the tail and head. Next, stick a green grape on the pretzel for a head. Tah,dah...a healthy turtle snack!
Best Wishes,
J. H.
You really can serve anything. Just call them whatever you want! gummy worms- Tummy Ticklers, teddy grahams- Tiny Teddies, etc. If you do the apple/pretzel/grape idea (which I think is great) you could call them Turtle Tots. My kids think it's so funny when they get to call their food silly names! Now my four year old does it sometimes on his own and he'll ask if the letters are right (i.e., 'does teddies start with t?'). It's been a great way for my kids to learn letters and what words start with what letters. He came up with pizza pillows on his own and was so proud (pizza rolls). Good luck!
Hi J.,
How about making dough and (like pretzel dough) and make the letter T with it. Or even bread sticks.
Try a mini cupcake with green frosting and green dots or jellybeans for body parts.
Turtle pie! It is yummy and starts with T! Tangy Taffy is messy, but it also is a "T snack." Good Luck!
I'm a party pooper - I don't think we should be giving our preschoolers something as sugary as chocolate and caramel turtles. Anyway, what about TREES (broccoli)?
Just an idea.
Why not just make turtle brownies and cut them to individual pieces...I'd just make them w/o the nuts (since most kids this age don't like them..). Just get a regular brownie mix & cook it then pour some caramel sauce over it...Voila!
How about Teddy Grahams, Trail mix (I like to make my own, that way I control what goes into it), Tortillas (you can make them with cheese and dip into salsa), tomatoes (cherry ones, dipped into ranch) or tater tots!

Let's see--
Tangerines (small, easy to peel, avoids any issue with nut allergies.)
Tortilla chips
tapioca
turnovers (i.e., pop tarts)
My sons class is learning about the letter T next week so I've been doing a little research on T snacks myself. Here is what I've come up with so far:
Tea
Tang drink served from a Thermos
Toast
Taffy
Toffee
Tapioca
Twinkie
Trix cereal
Tiramisu (I'm thinking this may not be a hit with kids)
Tart--maybe something sour like lemon drop or a fruit tart
Trident gum
Maybe serve on a TRAY and give them TWO of the snack.
I like the other suggestions that have also been posted.
Good luck and have fun!
Tortilla chips, some kind of english trifle, chocolate turtles, tofu Sorry that's all I can think of.
Chex specifically makes a trail mix that is called Turtle. If you are looking for simply and tasty, I would go with that. Then you are sticking with the Turtle theme, but there is no work involved.
How about Teddy Grahams?
Wow that's a tough one, the only thing that came to my mind was Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Fruit Snacks (Hyvee) For a more nutritional snack, maybe some cherry tomatoes with cheese cubes and some type of cracker. Good Luck J. C
Hi J. -
Someone might have already suggested this but I didn't read all the way down so - hopefully it isn't a repeat! How about caramel turtles? You can make the turtles with green m&m's to make them more "turtle-y. You could make some traditional turtles candies with pecans say for the teachers or if you were worried about nut allergies. Anyway, here is the recipe if you think you would be interested.
Here goes:
TURTLES:
(super easy)
What You Need
60 square pretzels
13 oz. bag Rolo candies, unwrapped
60 M&M candies
What You Do
1. Spread out a single layer of pretzels on a baking sheet. Top with one Rolo per pretzel.
2. Bake at 200 degrees F for 3-4 minutes.
3. Remove from oven and top each Rolo with an M&M.
4. If you can resist eating them while they are warm... let cool for at least an hour on the counter before removing from the baking sheet. To speed up the process, set the tray in the refrigerator for 15 minutes or until the candies are firm.
5. Store in a sealed container.
You can also make these in the microwave: Cover a microwave safe plate with a single layer of pretzels. Top with Rolos. Microwave on high for approx. 10 seconds and then top with M&Ms.
To cool, follow steps 4 & 5 from above.
******NOTE: To make candy "Turtle" bites: Top each Rolo with a pecan instead of an M&M.
My other suggestion would be tortilla chips or tortilla bites: make pinwheels with something kid friendly inside. Cream cheese, cheese spread etc.
Have a great weekend!
Turtles love the animal but yea thats hard. I made pb&j sandwhiches and used a turtle cookie cutter one time for my son's kindergarten class. I found that pretty much all kids enjoy pb&j b/c that became the popular snack.
Triscuits or Twizzlers?
The Girl Scouts use to sell Turtle candy, which is pecans, carmel with chocolate on them. They were like a drop cookie. You should be able to find a recipe for them or "wing it"?
how about trail mix, or making turtles with large marshmellosw and long pretzels and choc chips.
toast, soft tofu, tomatoes, turkey.maybe small sandwiches with some of each
Turtles
You will need Ritz crackers, pretzels and peanut butter. Put peanut butter on the Ritz crackers and let the children place pieces of pretzels on for legs, tails and heads.
Tator Tots
Another Turtle
You will need:
Oatmeal cream cake (cookie)
5 pretzel sticks
Vanilla wafer cookie
Directions:
To make an oatmeal cake turtle, give your child an oatmeal cream cake (cookie), five pretzel sticks, and a vanilla wafer cookie. To make the turtle, have your child insert a vanilla wafer cookie into the oatmeal cream cake to create a head. Then have him insert pretzel sticks to create legs and a tail. Presto, an edible turtle!
Hope this helps!
