Need Snack Ideas for 28 Kids Every Month

My son takes turns bringing snack to school about once a month. I am to bring enough for 28 kids. The ages range from 3 to 6 yrs. What are some healthy and yummy snack ideas?

I would prefer to do this as easy as possible - the less prep and baking, the better!

The snacks have to be store bought, nothing homemade. There are no allergy restrictions and they said to get creative but stay away from sweets!

The ideas above are great....another couple things our kids liked to take were frozen Go Gurts; small bagels with cream cheese or those bagel things with the cream cheese already inside--the kids didn't eat at home but they LOVED them at school; those Teddy Graham trail mixes in boxes; different flavored applesauces-- like the grape ones. Our teacher preferred the snacks in one big container so she could portion them out...it was faster and less headaches than trying to have each kid open a bag. I miss those days of picking fun snacks that coordinated with the theme for the week---have some fun with it now, when they hit school it just isn't the same.

What allergies are you dealing with and what does the school allow? That will narrow down your options.

One of the school my kids went to would only allow fruits and vegetables for snack. Carrot sticks were a popular item as well as raisins.

Kim, When my kids were in preschool we always took fruits and veggies. I would go with big bags of carrots and a big bottle of ranch dressing. or they sell apple slices already to go. i would personally skip anything that had flour, chocolate or nuts. so many allergies these days.

I would bake a double batch of healthy carrot-pumpkin cake which fills two 9x13" pans (made with carrots, pumpkin puree, orange juice, flax seed: healthy and tasty!) then cut into 28 squares and place on trays. Or, use paper muffin cups and make the batter into muffins. I can send you the recipe I use if you wish. The kids at my kids' school love this snack. I dust with powdered sugar versus a frosting. And this particular cake is peanut, tree nut and dairy-free, if you have any food-allergic kids. It does contain eggs, but you could substitute for those, if needed.

I also suggest asking the teachers what the kids have had in the past week so that they don't get goldfish crackers 4 days in a row.

Some things I recommended at my preschool
1. fruits: apples, oranges, bananas, raspberries, blueberries, grapes (bring w/ caution some classes don't allow them)
2. veggies: cucumbers, carrot sticks, celery w/ ranch dip

3. goldfish/cheese crackers

4. dried fruit like raisins or apricots or cranberries

5. saltines and slices of american cheese

6. cheese sticks

7. yogurt

8. boxes of cereal-multigrain cheerios, fruit loops, apple jacks

9. fruit roll ups, fruit snacks or fruit rope

10. peanut free trail mix w/ raisins, cereal, mini marshmallows, and pretzel sticks

11. pretzels and ranch dip

12. rice crispie marshmallow treats

13. peanut free granola bars

14. graham crackers

15. teddy grahams

16. any variety of applesauce

17. Vanilla wafers and vanilla pudding

Another thing you can do (if you want to go the extra mile) is find out the lesson for the week and bring a snack to compliment it w/ a little note to the teacher explaining your idea (talk to them first because sometimes a too creative snack is just a pain).
