Need Some Troops Overseas to Adopt

Does anyone on here have a friend or relative that is a soldier overseas still and they need some people to email, write them and send them care packages? Maybe they are overseas and know of someone else over there that has no one that write them or anything. I am asking this cause I am trying to start something at my company where people email, write and donate stuff to send over to soldiers. We are starting to write a newsletter for our company that is coming out very soon and wanted to include this in newsletter. I am not going to state their email address and all in newsletter but well just give it to people that approach me that are interested in doing this. If anyone knows of anyone that would like people to email or write them and they are overseas-please let me know. Thanks!

How thoughtful of you!! One way is to check in your church (if you attend one), the pastoral staff will usually know of some local soldiers. Another great way to find out about troops is to call your local National Guard Armory. They will know what units have deployed & be able to give you some information about sending care packages, letters, etc... To many of the soldiers aren't getting mail and it's heartbreaking. Good luck & know that you are going to make someones day!

I just wanted to say how wonderful you are in organizing this for our soldiers. My brother just came back from Iraq...he is a seasoned soldier with many overseas tours. It broke my heart the day he told how awful it felt not to receive mail...any mail! And believe me, his wife, children, and myself, and several other relatives thought that we were doing a great job at sending him email, letters, cards and packages. But it takes a village! Here is one thing that I started doing when I ran out of ideas: I bought a bunch of post cards and sat down one day and wrote one joke on each card. I mailed one a day during the last month of his 18 mo. tour. He had already started packing to come home and had to ship a lot of stuff home, so the post cards went into their "common area" to share with others. Again, I aplaud you and your ideas!

Hey E. as a Navy vet I applaud you :-)
Here is a great web page- http://www.soldiersangels.com/
They have a list of soldiers/sailors that have no one to support them.

I adopted a soldier through this site:

They were pretty quick assigning me to a soldier... about 2 days, I think.
