Need Tax Appraisal Dispute Assistance on Home

I am looking for a realtor that can help me with disputing my recent tax appraisal. McKinney's Central Appraisal is valuing my home almost $9k higher than last year! While I am glad to see the neighborhood increasing in value, I am not interested in paying the higher taxes since there has not been any real activity as far as construction improvement in the area and there have been a lot of homes for sale and in foreclosure in my neighborhood.

Is there a realtor that help me research the selling prices of comparable homes in the area as well as how many foreclosures there are. What other information will I need to help back my dispute?

What can I do next?

You don't have to have a realtor or pay someone to help you do this. A lot of scammers are out there to "assist" you for a fee. You can do this yourself and for free with little time and effort.

Make the phone call and protest over the phone. 9K higher is not that bad and they might change it for you without you doing anything but a phone call. I made the phone call and mine was dropped about $14K.

You can still get data yourself and present it if needed. Just a little leg work and you can do it with no fees.

Hi J.,

My name is C. Roeschen with Keller Williams and I would love to help you with the comparabllastes in your neighborhood. Free of charge, I do this for several people each year.

I disputed my taxes just last week for the first time. The process is hassle free and everyone at McKinney's Appraisal district was very helpful.

If you would like me to run comps for you please email me your address.

Best of Luck!

I had this same thing happen last year. I just called the office listed on your tax notice. I told them I wanted to have it looked at because I felt it was to high. She asked me what I thought it should be and I told her (about 15K lower). She said she would have the appraiser look into it. The next week I got a new notice in the mail that they lowered it 11K. I was happy with that and I did not have to hire anyone.

J.,
I am a realtor and can help you if you haven't already heard from anyone. Send me an email at ____@____.com with your address and your email information. I will pull comps for all of 2007 (which is what the tax district will need for you to appeal) and send them to you.
