What are the things we must absolutely see and do in the Destin/Fort Walton Beach, Fl area? Also, what restaurants are good? Please keep in mind, a 2 1/2 year old will be with us.
(We already know where we are staying.)
Thanks for your help.

The RED BAR!!!!! It is a must! We have so much fun and we take the monkeys. They were 2 and 3. 3-31 (or is it 31A?) is also associated w/ the red bar and is great too. We usually never leave the beach other than to shop at outlet mall, but I know many parents take their kids to the aquarium in destin. Seaside is also very cool and has concerts at night that you can picnic at. Actually I really think you MUST go to Seaside very cool place.

have fun....we are goign at the end of july and can't wait! It is the BEST!

We actually preferred not going into Destin since the traffic was awful, so we tried to find things to do outside of that area.

My kids loved the Central Zoo, I think that is the name. It is between Ft Walton and Pensacola. The kids can actually fed a giraffe and that was the highlight for my kids. It is a small zoo, but you can really get close to the animals, plus you can feed the gators too.

We also did the Gulfarium, which is pricey, but my daughter loves dolphins so it was well worth it for us.

There is also a little all you cna eat shrimp place and I can't think of the name of it. It is right on the main drive into Destin. We went for an early dinner and the kids loved the place. Their food was served on frisbees.

We went last year and my youngest was 2 1/2 at the time and he loved it all.

We never went into Destin and just preferred to hang out around Seaside and Rosemary Beach. Most evenings there is some sort of concert on the lawn at Seaside and kids are running everywhere. Just down from Seaside in Watercolor (?) there is a cute little spray park that lights up at night and my toddler LOVED it. We usually spent our mornings on the beach, had lunch and napped, and then strolled into town to hang out for the evening. We have a newborn this year so no trip for us! I'm jealous! Have fun!

We go the Hilton Sandestin Beach, Golf Resort and Spa. Very family friendly and we love it. We have a 13 yr old daughter and she usually brings a friend along.

We hang out at the hotel, sight see at Seagrove, go to the docks and see boats, and shop. As for restaurants, we just do the touristy things. There was one that had alligators and the girls liked it (Fudd Puckers). Food sucked but the atmosphere was fun.

We LOVE the Hilton resort there. Pricey but well worth it. It is in a gated area so it is safer for us to "loosen" the leash a bit and let the girls explore some on their own.

The beach is beautiful,

Have fun. We will be there the first week of August!!
