I can't seem to find a deodorant/anti-perspirant that works. I've tried everything from the natural crystals to the clinical stuff that's out now, but nothing works. I still stink! Does anyone have any advice for dealing with this smelly momma?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks for all the great ideas! I'm going to try some of them out and see what happens. I really noticed that I was smelling bad when I was pregnant this last year. Now that I've had the baby and I'm nursing, the smell hasn't gone away. My husband is the one that really notices it or at least he is the only one that says anything. I'm sure that exercise and eating right is a great start to smelling better. I've been eating a lot of chocolate and I know my Dad always says that chocolate and peanut butter make him stink.

Try using an anitbacterial soap that contains triclosan. THis helps to eliminate the bacteria that causes the odor. Also try bathing before bed and using deodorant then as well. Worked for me. Good luck! If I hear anything more I will keep ya posted.

If you've just had a baby in the past 3 months, this will pass. The body goes through some weird hormonal changes, which makes deodorants not work. Look for the strongest out there. It will get better soon.

How about drinking Chlorophyl daily? It's an internal deodorant with additional benefits. You can get it at Sprouts or the like. The original tastes just fine, light grassy flavor to it. But watch out, it stains!

I have heard chlorophyl tablets or liquid can act as an internal deodorant. Find at health food stores...or just eat more greens? Anything in your diet that has changed recently...making things worse? You may just have to experiment on yourself. Look online...I bet you are not alone in having this problem. People post free advice in discussion groups all the time. Good luck!

Hi R.,
I was in your shoes too... and I had looked for many years before I found a deodorant/anti-perspirant that works. It's not one that you can buy at your local grocery story, but I actually get mine from a health and wellness company. The deodorant is made from all natural ingredients, which is why I think it works, and it smells really good. I thought that I was stinking all the time, and I felt sooo embarrassed by my sweat. But then someone told me about this company, and I have been shopping from them ever since, and getting my deodorant from them. Of course they have other wellness products, but the deodorant is just one of the great things they have. This has been over a year now, and I don't sweat as much or put off such a stench... email me at ____@____.com, and I can share more information with you. Hope you're having a great day!

Have you ever tried Degree Clinical for women. Works well for me. It works better if you put it on at night before bed, and then again in the morning(if needed). It soaks into the poars better to work with your bodies heat.

My friend & I have been on a quest to find the perfect deoderant. We have both found that we love Crystal body deoderant. It does not stop you from sweating, but no matter how much we've sweated, we still don't stink. We've found that it absolutely has to be the brand Crystal. I found it at Albertsons in either the deoderant stick or deoderant roll-on. It must be applied to clean skin. I apply right after I get out of the shower in the morning and it works awesome. Even after sweating profusely at the gym, we still don't have any odor. We've tried the other natural crystal brands and they don't work like this one. Good luck!

My family recipe - mix 1/2 tsp of baking soda with your favorite perfume/spray in the palm of your hand and rub it underarms - works like a charm and you smell the way you like ;)

Have you thought about Botox injections in your armpits? My sister got that done and says she used to have sweaty armpits all the time but now she doesn't even have to wear deoderant. I think it is a little expensive and I don't think insurance companies typcially cover it but if it works I guess it is worth it. Ask your doctor about it.

Perhaps look at your diet. I have no idea what I'm talking about, but I thought maybe approach it from the inside out...

I dont think I was smelly but I did sweat a lot!!! I use Certain dry at night as directed,(do NOT use right after shaving it burns if you do) then I use degree for women in the morning. The certain dry at night keeps you from sweating and I just like the smell of a morning deoderant. anti-perspirant. I've gotten to where I only use Certain dry every other night and still working great even if I miss an application or two. Good luck,by the way I know you can get it at walmart not sure where else

Body odor is caused by toxins being flushed from your body through your sweat and dead bacteria on your skin - avoid anti-perspirants as they clog the pores and make the condition worse - first and main line of defense is to detox the body - look at what you eat and the other things you use (drugs, alcohol, body products) and make adjustments to stop as much as possible the intake of toxins (skin absorbs all the products you use on it) - then you need to start to cleanse the system of built up toxins - it won't happen overnight but good, long-lasting results can be found - I used to smell really bad until I became educated about this and began using herbal formulas daily - now I don't need deodorant at all and when I do choose to use it (for peace of mind while traveling/working/etc.) I use only natural herbal formulas. The crystal stone doesn't work very well, and I avoid anything with propylene glycol, but there is a roll-on called Herbal Magic by the Home Health - Products for Life company that works to make sure I don't have any issues. I am a certified herbal consultant so if you are interested in specifics on what herbs and formulas I have used successfully to detox just let me know.
