Hi M.,
My husband is the same & a self-proclaimed "geek!" There is a cool website www.thinkgeek.com and it has really cool gifts/gadets that any guy would love. I hope you find something!

Hello All, My husband is one of those guys who doesn't have a wish list for Christmas because if he wants it, he buys it. I need ideas for a great gift. A friend of mine suggested a race experience but my husband is quite large and I don't think he'd fit in the car window. He loves cars, video games and likes baseball. I wouldn't mind a weekend get away nearby so maybe I could find a place for us to go. I just don't know what to get him, he goes over board for me every year and leaves me feeling like a jerk.
If you have any suggestions I'm open to anything.
Thanks, M.

Hands down, the coolest thing I ever got my husband was the Richard Petty Driving Experience (http://www.1800bepetty.com/Promos/Promotions.aspx?PromoID.... We didn't do the ride along. He really enjoyed the thrill of getting in a "real" race car and actually racing around the track. To clarify: we AREN'T NASCAR junkies, but the adrenaline rush of the whole experience made it unforgettable. He loved bragging about how fast he drove to his friends and co-workers. Good luck in your decision!
if he likes video games, what about a night out to some place like Dave & Busters if there is one near you. Its like a huge adult arcade, where you can go for dinner and then play games after. beer, wings, games.....he'd love it.
i feel you on the "if he wants it, he buys it" thing. my husbands the same way. he's always saying he doesnt need anything because he just gets what he needs when he needs it. so, i totally sympathize.
what about tickets to a baseball game? or some cool gear from his favorite baseball team? does he have a gaming system? could get him a Wii or Xbox. or some sports video games.....
good luck!!
How about an extended weekend at Branson, Mo? It could either be a family affair or just a weekend getaway for the two of you. On your way there you can stop in Springfield and go to The Bass Pro Store, let him explore and pick up something special there that he finds. Branson is a wonderful place to go and it wouldnt be too expensive unless you go to an endless string of shows. We always stay at La Quinta there ( if you aren't a member of their discount club, join before making reservations) and as I remember we can get rooms for about $60 a night. You can even make your money go further if you agree to listen to one of those sales pitches from a time share company there, they will give you tickets to a couple of shows for the 2 hours or so that you have to spend with them!!!
Hi M.,
I've found a lot of personal gifts that you can make with photos - like coffee mugs, photo books (not albums - you can actually write a story), calendars, etc. For Valentine's Day, I made my husband a photo book that told the story of how we met and fell in love. I included lots of pictures from when we were dating. I didn't know if it would be too "mushy" for him, but he teared up and absolutely loved it. I also made him a coffee mug with pictures of him and our daughter for Father's Day, since he drinks coffee about every day! I did the photo book on Shutterfly - a free picture website, but I did the coffee mug at Walgreens.com. Both were well done and added a personal touch to the holiday. If your husband has an office, he might like a calendar with pictures of him and the kids to hang in the office. There are probably tons of other gift ideas on those sites as well!
Here are some ideas:
Cars:
1. Model cars he and your sons can make/paint together
2. Car magazine subscription
3. Car calendar
4. Stuff for his car - detail, oil change gift card, waxing stuff, stuff to wash it, Yankee Candle scents for scar
Video Games:
1. Ask him for a list of games he wants
2. New contoller, steering wheel, etc (not sure what gaming system he likes)
3. Gaming magazine subscription
4. Video game chair
5. Wireless headphones
Baseball:
1. Tickets to a local game
2. Signed baseball
3. Movie about baseball
4. Baseball jersey
Other items that always seem to go well: cologne, socks, tshirts, pajamas, Bathroom Reader books, CD (I bought my husband two comedy ones this year since his commute to work takes 40 minutes each way).
Good luck!
Good Morning M., Your not that far from KC. They have some nice Bed & Breakfast places there, and close by.
Look online for sporting events in KC around that time, and see if you can coordinate a game or two with the alone time at a B&B, get pampered yourself then :)
Last year I got my hubby a bunch of fishing equipment. We go to Grove OK in the spring to fish for crappie, with 4 other couples for a week. Then he has a yearly week long fishing trip with the guys at Fall River in the fall. This year he wants a Battery charger for the little camper like trailer he bought from my brother. I am the one who goes over board...lol at Christmas anyway. This year I have no idea yet what I am going to do, as hubby placed the battery charger in our family family gift exchange.
Last year I also took him back to Blue Bluffs Harbor in Grove Ok, to fish for 3 days. This year I can't as we will have our DIL's mom and brother with us.
Best of Shopping and hope you get some awesome Idea's to help you along.
God Bless

If he likes to buy his own stuff get him a gift card with a larger amount of money and go shopping with him when he goes and let him go nuts, maybe Best Buy or a sports store or something.
sports gear or memorabilia is how i usually go with my husband, he's the exact same way. (funny how we go without so much, that for christmas and birthdays our lists reach the floor, but somehow they just "go and buy" whatever they want/need! it's that mom mentality i guess! i can never buy myself stuff without feeling guilty. lol.) sports stuff, sporting event tickets- google or go to ticketmaster.com and see a list of events he might like. you'd be surprised how many events go on.
I think planning a weekend getaway would be a great idea.
There are so many places to visit that aren't that far of a drive. Stay at a Bed and Breakfast and just enjoy the time together.
At my house I am the one everyone says this about :) I work hard, make good money, and just buy the things I want! But I can be very strange about some things - I buy a new computer almost every year, but somehow buying a "netbook" I just cant justify to myself even though I *really* want one. So he may have somethings like that. Here is my list of "I really want but even though I buy almost everything else I just cant bring myself to do it" items :) -- netbook (just a tiny laptop, which I already have but geez the thought of it drives me nuts!), DVR service from charter (10-15 a month, but seems like such a waste since I am always trying to get myself to watch LESS tv), iPOD Touch (I already have an mp3 player, and dont want iphone...so dont really need it, but the ipod touch has wifi/email, all the same app downloads as iphone, plus an ereader app like kindle AND alarm features AND itunes university free courses you can download and watch/listen, etc... the more I read the more i WANT) , a year of netflix (again, trying to watch LESS Tv but ...), an ereader like kindle or sony (though the ipod touch will do same thing!), the football season package from directv (well, not me but others in the house seem to really want it!), sleepphones.com (to keep from waking others up/wake up to music etc - works great with ipod touch :), new recliner with massage features, DVD projector to watch movies on BIG screen (and maybe an outdoor blow up type movie screen to watch them outside in the summer)...
Good luck! I may get myself one of these for christmas - if I can jumpt he conscience for a day :)
What about a baseball weekend? Take him to a few games over a weekend, maybe stay near the stadium, and take him out to eat at Dave and Buster's or a similar sports-themed restaurant. Or give him a coupon book for things like a new video game of his choice, uninterrupted TV viewing of a race or baseball game, etc. He might like that, too!
Be careful! I got my husband the race experience for his birthday several years ago. Next thing I knew we had a racecar, then a 2nd racecar, then a race car hauler, and it just kept going! :) Boys and their toys! I really don't have any specific ideas. I am sure he will like anything you get him. Good luck and have a great Christmas!
I must admit that I read the responses since I have difficulty shopping for my husband too --- He also goes overboard with gifts for me and it is so hard to shop for him. Last year, I really floored him though: I bought him a new TV! He had no clue and was so thrilled!
