New to Area and Lonely

I'm a 25-year-old expecting our first child in September. We moved here about 6 weeks ago and I'm looking to meet people. Since I don't have a little one yet, I don't fit into the moms' groups. Education classes at the hospital don't start until 28 weeks, so I have a while yet before I go to those. We are a military family so I would join a group at the Peterson Chapel or Spouses' Group, but they dispand for the summer and I really want to connect before the baby comes so when he/she arrives I'm not cooped up in the house. Any suggestions on book groups, moms' groups I would be welcome at, soon-to-be moms groups, knitting groups, scrapbooking...anything!?

What can I do next?

Best moms group in town and there are plenty of pregnant moms and military spouses, you should be able to find a friend or two and tons of support. We are moving and I will miss this group most of all.

We are also at Peterson. What about going to a pregnancy aerobic class or something like that. I am not sure, but I think, Peterson does offer them. If not I think the local YMCA's do and they offer a discount to military folks. I know it is hard having a baby in a new place with no family around, I had our daughter while stationed overseas and it was really lonely. Also, do you have a church? I know our church has groups. Let me know if you need any more information.

I'm a military wife also and we live up North so I didnt get a chance to meet many other army wives. I found some groups through the hospital(Penrose) when my son was born and also joined my area moms club(momsclub.com)it's split up by areas of town. meetup.com has quite a few choices for moms groups, I am in KAMMP and Hipmamas and they also have some for areas of town and for AP/natural moms, check it out

Welcome to the area! You will love it here. I am an Army Wife near Fort Carson. I won't be back to the area until the end of March (visiting family on the East Coast) but I can assure you that you will find many friends in PWOC. Have you heard of that? I know that Peterson has one, but I'm not sure when it meets. If you want to get involved in the one at Carson, I can tell you all about that one, and I can even get you hooked up with someone there who would sit with you and introduce you to others. Then, when you find out when Peterson's is meeting you can always change to there. But I do know there are Air Force wives at ours...it isn't just for Army Wives. PWOC is always the first place I go to meet people because it is such an easy way to do so. (In case you've never heard of it, it's Protestant Women of the Chapel, and it meets each Tuesday morning. It is basically a couple hours spent with other military wives and we have some praise and worship time, food (of course) and then we break into bible study. there is one set up specifically for those who are new to the area and don't want to come in during the middle of the year to a study that has a lot of homework.)

If you're interested, reply and I'll give you my personal e-mail through a private message! I wish I were in town to meet you!

Welcome to the Springs! I've been here 2 years, and have 4 kids (ages 6,5,3,1). I have a women's organization that I'm part of that I think you would love. We're like sisters, and are constantly adding new people. It's called the Relief Society. We have several different regular things that go on, like the book club, craft group and lunch bunch, as well as other things. You can choose what fits into your schedule and interests. If you'd like, you can come to the craft group tomorrow. There are singles, young marrieds, mommies of all ages, and great-grandmas! This is also where I find the best playdates and playgroups (although my family is practically a play group by itself).
Let me know if you'd be interested! I'd love to introduce you to everyone.

You could look into MOMS Club. I know in our club we have moms who've joined before their child was born and have many moms how are pregnant. We have many military moms too. Our monthly calendar is always full. We also have a stork club which provides some of our members with meals after birth. It's a great support group - our chapter's site is www.momseast.com or you can visit www.momsclub.com to see which area chapter you'd be in.

Hi S.
My husband is ex-Army and currently a contractor for the military. We moved to CO in August and have not met anyone yet (due to being in CA for our wedding in Oct. and in Dec. for the holidays.). He travels a lot for his job and I have started going with him because I'm so lonely and bored at home. I would love to talk with you. I'm looking to meet people as well and have some friends locally. We don't have children yet, but they are definitely in the plans! I am a teacher (who doesn't have a full time job at the moment)and I have always been surrounded by children. I'm in NY right now until April but then will be back in CO. Please feel free to email me ____@____.com
