New to This Site, Birthday Party Planning Help?!

I feel like I'm being repetitious as I have recommend this to several moms already (btw WELCOME! I'm fairly new too)
I made edible jewelry kits. I used o shaped cereal and gummy candy, put it in a bag with elastic and red shoelace licorice for the string. I'm sure you could find princess type stuff to throw in there.
I gave those to all the kids and I had several parents call raving about them and saying they were going to steal the idea( I gave them out as each guest left).

I've said it before on this site over and over again, HATE HATE goodie bags.

You could make a craft, like a crown or a jewel/treasure box and they could that that home.

Decorate with helium filled balloons and let each child take one home. .

A finger paint station sounds fun, the the kids could take home their painting. Maybe pick up some inexpensive frames for the paintings.

One year, for my daughter's second birthday, I burned a disk of music that went with the theme (rubber ducks) and gave each kid a copy. I've printed clip art pictures off and made coloring books and paired them with dollar store packs of crayons. I've also decided to forgo goodie bags with lots of trinkets for a single toy or book that is nicer, not just little plastic things. Small lego kits, nice books, or stuffed animals. My max is $5 per kid, but you can do a lot with just a dollar or two.

My sister had bought large flat lollipops with long sticks in the color scheme of her party. She tied a bunch of curling ribbon just under the pop, attached each childs name and used them as a place card at the table. The kids used them as a princess wand and of course brought them home to eat. It looked so pretty as party of the decorations and the kids loved it.

I hit the dollar store and got boxes of sidewalk chalk. There were 3-4 sets per box. But I don't go crazy. Honestly, I don't get the buying presents for people who come to your party. It seems like a waste, most moms don't like getting them because they usually have a bunch of plastic junk that ends up lying around the house or a bunch of candy. So if your budget is tight, see what the dollar store has or just skip it. To me, it's not really necessary. They're already getting cake and stuff. :)
