My family and I attend Lutheran Church of Hope in West Des Moines. It is located on Jordan Creek Parkway. It is a big church, but very friendly! They have a wonderful staff who works well with all children! They have many activities to become involved in and have wonderful pastors on staff. I would recommend checking it out and see for yourself. Vacation Bible School is in July, which would be a fun way to get the kids involved. Good luck. Will be praying for you.

Hello! I attend church at Zion Lutheran Church on Beaver Ave. We have a couple families with special needs children and all types of families are VERY welcome!
When I went through new member orientation, they said they have members from all Christian backgrounds/upbringings. Kind of cool!
Come check us out. Traditional service is at 8:00, Praise service (songs and a sermon) is at 9:30, and Contemporary service (my favorite, praise band/singers) is at 10:30.

Lutheran Church of Hope in West Des Moines is very family friendly. They have lots of kids programming and often offer child care for adult groups. They also have a new branch in Ankeny that meets at Northview Middle School.

Hi N.!
We also live in Urbandale, but the church we go to is in Saylorville. Don't worry, It's only about a 12 minute drive! Anyway, it's Saylorville Baptist Church, and we love it! The people are wonderful and very inviting, and the services are Gospel centered. Whatever your child's special needs are, you all would be very welcome at our church! You should check out the Church website to see what a great children's program they have. We have a 2 yr old, and one on the way, so that was important to us, too.
I hope this helps! Please write me if you have any more questions,
E.

Hey N., welcome to the area, there are a ton of great churches here. We go to Pathway,a non denominational church, which meets in Wallace Elementary School in Johnston. It is a contemporary, come as you are type church. Pathway is terrific, lots of kids, and people of all ages and walks of life. We have a few parents that attend with special needs children also. You can get more information from www.thepathonline.org, or contact me for more info. Best to you, and hope you find the right church for you and your family!
