I know this may seem silly since I have four children but here goes...This is my only child to have hair as a newborn, all my other children were bald. Is it normal for newborn's hair to fall out? And if so, is there anything that can be done to help it grow back? Thanks for all your responses!
It's supposed to happen. It will grow back, but it might look different than it did before. My son's fell out on the top leaving the donut old man look. It was funny. It usually falls out where they lay down the most. No worries.
Newborn hair loss is perfectly normal and nothing to worry about. Babies often lose their hair during the first six months
If you notice that your baby has bald patches, observe the way he sits and sleeps. If he always sleeps in the same position or tends to sit with the back of his head against a baby seat, he may lose hair in that area. He may also develop a bald spot if he rubs his head against his mattress.
Both my boys were born with a full head of hair and they both lost it by a couple months old. It slowly grew back and now my youngest who is a year old has a full head of blond curls and the oldest (4) has a full head of straight auburn hair. So don't worry! :)

As everyone said the hair falling out is normal. I don't think you can do anything to get more hair to grow. It just takes time. My oldest son was born with a head full of dark hair and lost it by the time he was four or five months old. When it grew back it was blonde with red highlights. I think that by the time he was one he had a head full of hair again.

Yes perfectly normal. My daughter lost 80%of her hair by 4m and now at 9m has almost a full head of hair.
I also have 4 children and the 1st 3 were bald too!! Our 4th was born w/ a full head of long black hair!! He started loosing it around 3 months old (I thought this was a little late but our ped. said that was the average age to start loosing newborn hair) and ended up loosing 3/4 of his hair by 4 months. He looked really funny!! But by 12 months it had all returned and now at 18 months he has his ringlets back! When he was loosing the hair I tried not to "stroke" it too much and kept the washing to a min!! It seemed to help it not fall out as fast!
Enjoy the hair!! My baby is in need of a haircut and we are having a hard time cutting it!! Our oldest is nine and really gets upset when we talk about cutting the baby's hair!!

When my little girl was born, I just knew she was going to be bald. So when she came out with a head of hair I was SOO excited! But of course she lost it, which is perfectly normal. Not fair that some kiddos don't though! lol She lost all but a very small tuft on the back of her head which look kind of funny, but she was still beautiful....bald and all! She is now 12 1/2 months and has hair again! It gets thicker every day. So it is normal, but I don't think there is anything you can do to get it to grow back except give it time!

My son was born with a full head of hair, and started losing it at 3 months - it's perfectly normal. A lot of babies are born with darker hair, which they lose, and then it comes back in lighter. He now has a full head of thick, blond hair - just like his father. No worries - your baby's hair will come in - possibly just like my son's, whose new hair came in as his newborn hair fell out (just a different color).
