I think the heat of the dryer is what really kills them.....here is an idea (and might be a time saver too)...take everything to the laundrymat....that way you can do all of your wash at once and use several dryers at once...the dryers there are commercial so I think they will get hotter then the home dryer. It'll cost you a few bucks but you won't worry about fire at home and you can get all your laundry done quicker.
If you do it at home just make sure the dryer lint trap is cleaned out each time.
I have washed stuffed animals (a full washer and dryer load) with no problems.
