Nighttime Wetness

I have a 15 month old who wakes up pretty wet in the morning. I use her normal diapers at night - Pampers, which work fine during the day. I have heard some moms say that Night Time diapers don't really work and that I should use the diaper one size up just at night to help keep her dry through the night. Do any of you moms have any preference between Night Time diapers versus going one size up at night? Thanks!

I have a 22 month old with the same problem! I tried the one size up - he was still wet in the morning. I tried the nighttime diapers - he is now dry 98% of the time. We've been using them about a month and he's only had 1 wet morning. Good luck!!

V.,

We had lots of problems with my daughter soaking through the regular diapers and have had nothing but success with the nighttime diapers. I would definitely recommend them - they have extra absorbency in the front.

Hi V.,

I use the Huggies Overnights also. We had a few weeks where it seemed our son would wet thru those also and I just used 2 at the time while he was going thru that.

Our son is a huge night time wetter. He would almost always wake up wet. We tried the super absorbensy but they only worked sometimes and sizing up wasn't enough either. What we do is put one diaper right over the other - thats right two diapers at once. He's never been uncomfortable and on many mornings the outside diaper feels dry when he wakes up so I just take of the inside one and put the outside one right back on. Its easy, convienent, and there is nothing extra to buy or keep handy.

In my experience with my youngest son who pees a lot at night, Huggies night time pampers work the best. The Pampers brand are not as absorbent, in comparison. I have never tried using one size up at night. It seems to me,though, that if one size up is too big for your child, it won't fit as snug as she needs and it will leak.

We use huggies overnight diapers for my son, and think they're great. He is at an age where we can't just give him a bigger size diaper at night because everything leaked out the leg opening. Also, we found that if we bought a box of 60 overnight diapers (from walmart) then it was actually cheaper to use those at night than to use a pampers cruisers (which we use during the day) with a doubler in it. A pack of doublers is very cheap, but if you consider the cost per diaper it ends up being more expensive. At least in our area.

I never tried the Night Time diapers. I used the Pampers and just moved up a size when she started to leak through. My thought was that I would end up with a bunch of diapers that she had outgrown.

We use Pampers too....but I use the Cruisers during the day and the Baby Dry at night. I also find that I typically bump him up a size in the Baby Dry diapers before I bump him up in the cruisers....whenever he starts waking up wet, we move him up. Good luck!

I did not like night time diapers but i swear by going one size up!!! Try a small pack of each- one size up, and another of night time and try each exclusively for night for a week or two and see what works for her :}

Hey! My 15 month old was the same way, infact she would soak through her diapers some nights. We got her a size 4 (one size up) that didn't help all that great. So we tried the Huggies nighttime diapers and for us they are amazing. She is still soaked in the mornings, but she has never soaked through them. I have only been able to find them in a size 4, not in a size 3, but they have worked great for us. Hope this helps and good luck!

Pampers never worked for us at night. So we used Huggies at night. Not a night time diaper, just the regular Huggies.

We had this problem with my older daughter and did turn to night time diapers which saved us many loads of laundry and AM baths. I think it is worth it (especially in the summer when kids are drinking more fluids).

I had the same problem and friends told me to give him his last milk for the night alittle bit earlier than a few mins before bedtime routine, so this will give him the chance to wet his diapers before he goes to bed. Friends also recommended to me to use Huggies Night time diapers and work great for us. Son is 2 and we still use them to be safe since we are in the process of potty training and things happens. This is what worked for us....maybe try different ways and see what works best for your lil' one. Congrats with number 2. Have a great week.

We use "diaper doublers" for my son ... a pack of 30 is $3 at Babies R Us. For us, the nighttime diapers didn't work (and are quite expensive) and trying to keep 2 different diaper sizes separate made me crazy (and the larger size still leaked 1/2 the time). Good luck!!

We found that our little girl would wake up wet too. We tried the one size up thing but they were just too big. We've had great success with the Night Time diapers. We use Pampers during the day but her night time diapers are Huggies. I think Pampers now makes night time diapers too. Good Luck, hope you find what works for you guys!

I found Pampers crusiers ultra at BJ's wholesale club. They are the best. They hold a lot and keep my little one dry. However they are only available at BJ's.

I'm another fan of the Huggies Overnights - they're awesome and my son is never wet in the morning anymore. We actually use a size bigger in those too. He's a 4 for the daytime diapers and 5 for the nighttimes.

Okay, everyone told me not to bother with the nightime, and they were WRONG! I did a size up, I did everything, finally I bought the huggies overnights (will not say the same for everything, these are in the purple package), finally I wasn't changing the sheets every morning. When he got close to the next size I moved him up early, to prevent any problems. Good luck and hope this helps!!

I have 3 kids, ages 6,4 and 2.... Girl, boy and girl. We have also had the issue of 'diaper overload', mostly with wet diapers. With all of them we moved to the next size up in diapers. This made all of the difference with 2 of them. My son however, still continued to soak through his diaper. I tried the night time diapers but didn't notice much of a difference. What did work was continuing to use the larger diapers but also use a pad for adult incontinence. We just placed it in the diaper like a maxi pad... And voilà... No more leaking. A maxi pad does not work though. It will actually make it worse (as we learned the hard way!). I know quite a few others who have used the technique with great success. Good luck to you!

I think nighttime diapers and pullups are more expensive than traditional diapers?? So I would try the bigger size first.

I would also say, if it is not leaking and not bothering her, then don't worry about it. Don't let her have diaper rash, but my kids tolerated wetness pretty well - they have different standards than us.

Try overnight pullups. They worked very well for my daughter (much better than any diaper).
