No Period, but Not Pregnant...

I have always had an irregular cycle - between 23 and 26 days. My last cycle started on Dec. 18 or 19th (can't remember for sure), and there was a bedroom mishap on Dec. 31 which could have gotten me pregnant. I had a little bit of spotting on Jan 7 or so, and I still have not gotten my period. I took a pregnancy test yesterday, and it was negative. I am really worried as to why my period isn't here yet. I plan to take another test in a few days if my period doesn't start soon. I know that stress can cause irregular periods, but I have had times when I was under major stress, and never missed my period. Any advice or anyone else have similar situations?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Well, writing about my situation seems to have done the trick - I just started my period! Thanks for all of the advice :) What a relief :)

Well, no similar situation to yours, but I think day 20ish would be a little late for implantation in a shorter cycle like yours; though of course, it is *quite possible* and not that uncommon I'm sure. The timing of your "mishap" and your spotting is spot-on however, for implantation and pregnancy. :-P

If I were you, I'd head over to the Dollar Tree and ask for some pregnancy tests (if you don't see them on the shelves). The ones I've had from there have always been the least expensive and the most sensitive (go figure!). Wait and use your 'first morning's urine' and keep checking until/if you get your period or a positive. If neither after another two weeks or so, you might wanna pay a visit to your gyno.

HTH & best wishes!

Your spotting may have been nothing, but it could also be a sign of the fertilized egg attaching itself to the uterine wall. That's how I knew I was pregnant with my third. I took my test a couple of days after the spotting incident, and it was positive even then. So I knew I was pregnant a few days BEFORE my next period was due to start! What kind of test did you take? I used First Response. Anyway, check out this website see if it helps answer your questions:

Hope that helps ya!

I am going through the EXACT same thing!! I took a test last weekend and it was negative but still no period. And our bedroom mishap was Dec 23. I don't have any advice but am anxious to see if anyone else does...

Personal question, are you not wanting anymore or just not the right time?? I certainly don't want anymore!

You could be pregnant even though it isn't showing up on the test... I took 3 test before the 3rd test showed I was pregnant, I was a week late when I took the first test, only waited 4-5 days then took the second one, both name brands (11 years ago), then I waited another week and took one with a generic brand, like walgreens or something, and sure enough the 3rd one showed positive. I was very irregular too. Not on that pregnancy, but my first time getting pregnant, I thought I was going to start, because I spotted on day, then I never started. I took a test a little over a week after I missed my period and it was positive.
However, this is just probably me, every time I thought I was "really" pregnant I would have a baby dream first, then I would take the test. I've only had the baby dream 3 times, I have 3 kids, the other weird part is I always dreamed they were the opposite sex than what they are. But like I said, it's probably just me.

God Bless!

Stress definately can cause your body to react this way. I can totally relate. I've had that happen 2x now -- once under major stress and once under just day to day stress. It's a flight or fight reaction apparently. My dr prescribed a very short dose of hormones to kick my body back into gear. Call your Dr's office and discuss it with them. I'm sure there could be other cuases too. Good luck!
