Nursing Bras Help

Hi,

I am about to have baby boy #2. I nursed my first one till he was 21 months old and so I am still really wearing nursing bras because I just never got around to getting new bras. It didn't seem worth the effort and money if I was going to start nursing all over again. Before my first pregnancy I was 34-36C and when I was nursing all the time I was 36DD. Then, when he turned a year old and started nursing less I went back to 34-36C. I am now close to the end of my 2nd pregnancy and my size has not changed at all. I want to get a bunch of new nursing bras because obviously the ones I have are very worn out and also I have discovered some really pretty ones out there that I didn't know about until recently. My question is really to moms who have nursed more than one baby - will I get big again or will I pretty much stay the same as I am. The bras I want I have to order online and are on a great sale now so I'd like to buy some now but I don't want to get the wrong size obviously. So I'd love to hear from other nursing moms what happened to their chest size the 2nd time around. I thought for sure my chest was going to grow during the pregnancy like the first time but nothing has changed really so I just wonder if nursing is going to make as dramatic of a difference as it did last time around.

What can I do next?

I gave birth to a son and daughter 3 years apart. Both times my breasts did not enlarge until after the birth. My breasts doubled in size while I was nursing. I went from a 32A to 34C both times. I felt beautiful. Then after I weaned the second child my breasts shrank down to "fried eggs". I thank God that He put plenty of milk in my breasts for the babies. People told me I couldn't nurse because I was so small. God proved them wrong. I wish you all the joy and tender love of breastfeeding. AF

usually when your milk comes in you get enlarged, so don't throw out those old bras yet...Your milk can come in a bit later and even after the baby comes with the second child. If you do epidurals you can take up to a week to get your milk in.
another tidbit, if you get engorged or have any pain, use cabbage leaves after chilling them in the freezer.

I just had my baby 3 days ago and I got HUGE last night when my milk came in, although I never stopped nursing my first one.

I didn't get much larger during the pregnancy than I was prepregnancy (nursing though). I didn't get as large during the pregnancy as I did during the first pregnancy.

I was actually a little shocked. As my milk never went away, I didn't expect my milk to come in so strongly, but it has. I have heard that your supply moderates more quickly though, but I have yet to experience that.

I would hold off on the bra purchases until a few weeks postpartum.

I got bigger again, but had more time between. Has your milk dried up mostly? IF so, you will probably get it back in in full swing just like the first time. Or just hold out until you know for sure and ask for gift cards to get your bras!

i wore a different size bra with my second, i think because i didn't gain as much weight with him so i wasn't as round all around. i would just measure yourself now and go for it, unless the style is underwire in which case i think you're taking more of a chance. bear in mind that you'll probably lose weight a few months after the 2nd one is born, so you'll have to buy more in a different size. so i wouldn't go hog wild and buy a bunch, maybe 2 new ones in this size, then expect to buy some more 4 months or so after your 2nd is born when you'll probably be another size.

With my first I went from a 38C to a 38D and pretty much stayed there all the way through my second pregnancy where I jumped to a 38 G/H! Bras in that size are really expensive, so I mainly wear the drop cup camisoles with the built in bra. I've been tandem nursing for 13 months now and they haven't really deflated yet even though my baby is not nursing as much and neither is my toddler.

I have had 4 children and I did engorge with all of them. I tend to follow similar patterns of size with each of my babies so chances are you might too, though everyone is different and every pregnancy is different. I would buy the size you were for the longest period while nursing or a couple in both sizes. Congrats on the new baby and good luck!

Hi, I'm still nursing my youngest of 2 boys. I returned to my "normal" size in between babies. The second time around size increase was less noticeable during pregnancy but did occur when my milk came in after my 2nd son was born. I found my old nursing fit for the first few months and now that my son is 6 months old, I'm probably going back to the store very soon to adjust for the decrease in size as I return to "normal".

My best advice, you'll probably need something bigger than what you are wearing now but your size may NOT change as much as it did or stay as enlarged as it did with your first child or stay . Check the return policy of the online company, keep the tags and the receipts.

Congratulations on your second boy! Boys are fun, bursting with energy and a handful!
