Hi! I'm expecting baby 2 in July and was looking into nursing covers. I didn't use one with my first baby but thought it might be good to get one this time around. Anyone have experience with these and have a recommendation? Thanks so much!!
Bebe au lait/Hooter hider (same thing, different product line) - just line dry. I had one to wash and one to use. Accept no imitations (too small, no pocket). They lasted me 2.5 years and now DD uses them as superhero capes. :)
I LOVE LOVE LOVE the bebe au lait cover. It's expensive, but well worth it! Whatever you do, make sure your cover has a stiff piece of plastic for the "face opening" so that it's easy to look down and see your little one. That was absolutely key for me!

I loved my Bebe au lait/Hooter hider too! It is so easy to throw on in an instant! and I think the designs are really pretty! I just looked at the babybond that the lady mentioned below, and it looks pretty nice too, but it looks like it would be kind of a process to put on and off, and the fabric looks like it would get in the baby's mouth, which could cause some trouble when nursing, and if you expose more for the baby, then it seems to defeat the purpose of covering at all.
When I covered for breastfeeding, it wasnt because I was covering up for anyone else but me, and maybe a little peace/privacy for baby too. The hooter hider did that for me. And you can move it/angle it however you want if you feel the baby isnt getting enough airflow, plus it can be slightly open at the top so you can see your baby when you look down when he/she is nursing, and nobody else can (unless they are standing behind you looking over your shoulder.
To each their own, it depends on your personal needs/preference. Go try a few on and see how you like them!

I'd highly recommend the Baby Bond nursing cover. It covers you up without covering the baby's face, limiting oxygen for the baby, and running the risk of the baby pulling it away in frustration. It's small enough to fit in your bag, & easy to use. It makes for very discreet nursing in public. I agree with Meredith that the Hooter Hider type covers tend to draw a lot of attention to the fact that you're breastfeeding. Not to mention, in my experience, they only work for a month or two, before your baby starts playing games & lifting them up, exposing you anyway. Also, I feel that the Hooter Hider style covers perpetuate the notion that breastfeeding needs to be censored and hidden away, which I disagree with. Breastfeeding is a normal part of life, & sometimes needs to happen in public. It's up to every mom's comfort level how she wants to do that, but in my experience, veteran moms who dress for the occasion, latch the baby on well & quickly, and don't bother with blankets, huge covers, or ponchos tend to be the most discreet - most people assume they're just holding their babies or the babies are sleeping. This Baby Bond cover seems to take the best of both worlds - it doesn't portray breastfeeding as something shameful that must be hidden, but it also keeps the mother's modesty so that she doesn't have to expose herself to nurse her baby. I've heard nothing but wonderful things from the moms who have used it. It came out after I was done nursing, but if I had another baby, I'd be all over this! :) You may want to consider it especially since you'll be having a baby in the heat of summer, & those covers don't allow a lot of air flow under there. I had an Utter Cover and a Bebe Au Lait. The Utter Cover I had gotten for free with a promo code that was emailed to me (and I still get those free codes from time to time) However I did actually liked the Bebe Au Lait a bit better. They were the same basic design, but the Bebe had small terrycloth pockets in the inside corners that you could use for shields (Which I did have to use) or pacis or really anything, then after nursing, if you didn't have a cloth handy and needed to wipe up baby's mouth, or yourself, they were very handy. All and all most of them have the same rigid necklines and the same basic cut.
I have the Balboa nursing cover from target/babies r us. I have had just the one for 10 months now and it still looks new.
just use a blanket during the awkward baby stage and after that they try to knock it off creating more attention to you. once baby is latched you cant see anything anyways

I honestly preferred a ring sling carrier for nursing. The tail makes a good drape, and it makes nursing comfortable and modest without screaming "We're BREASTFEEDING under here!"
