Hi Moms-I am pregnant for the 2cnd time, and I am hoping to breastfeed again as I did with my daughter. My old nursing cover worked ok, but I am a plus size gal-and at many times I felt it didn't cover enough. Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks!

What can I do next?

If you can sew I agree with the other ladies that it is easiest (and cheapest) to make them, but even if you aren't a great sewer, you can take a larger baby blanket, which we all get hundreds of with the first and hand sew on ribbons to tie it on. If you want a no sew option, you can tie the ribbons to small binder clips and use any blanket you have with you.

I have a bebe au lait, but I think the hooter hiders are bigger, so i agree that might be a better option. Especially since my son was quite long and liked to move around (arms, legs...) he'd stick out a lot in mine and sometimes i wish i had more fabric!

I have an Udder Cover that I got through one of their free promos. I got it after about a month (it was backordered). I like it, it's basically a blanket with a strap that goes around your neck to hold it so baby can't throw it off. I don't use it a lot, though, b/c my baby doesn't like to be covered and won't eat sometimes when I use it or any kind of covering. I will warn you, though: a lot of moms on another parenting board I'm on have said that they never received their's, and that this is a scam. I got mine, so take from this what you will. Just thought I'd share what I've heard from other mom's.

I got mine at target, as well as my breast pads. I bought some at a specialty shop that were washable, but I liked the softness of the disposable ones better. Anyway, it covered enough, but I ended up usually nursing in public either in my car with tinted windows and toddler in car seat or locked into a changing room. Bathrooms if I was desperate, LOL! It gets tricky with two! Although, mine were only 15 months apart. Pumping before an outing is also a good idea, but I was usually not that organized! Congrats, and good luck!

Can you sew? I found this website (pics included) when pregnant with our first, and made one for myself and one for a friend (I can work one, but I'm not fabulous with the sewing machine, so I can assure you that it's easy): http://www.blisstree.com/breastfeeding123/free-pattern-to...

etsy.com has tons and is a website for homade items. I'm sure you could ask any one of them to make one for you a little bigger (I found one on there for $13, so it wouldn't be too expensive!

I didn't use a cover, I just would just raise my shirt up. This worked for my fussy one, and I felt it was less attention-nabbing than when I would try to cover up--that always attracted attention to "hey she's nursing!". With a nursing bra, I felt like I was never exposing myself either.

A friend gave me her Hooter Hider when she was done with kids. I loved it. For my frame it was perfect (size 8-10). I don't know where she got it, but I've seen them at Hospital gift shops. I'm sure you could ask to see a sample of something before you spend the money on one. I believe it was ~$30 (if I hadn't received a hand-me-down, I would have spent the money in a heart beat)

A friend of mine makes them and sells them on her site: www.modmami.com I'm sure she could make one a bit larger for you if hers aren't big enough. Well, I'm not seeing them on her site just now, but perhaps you could contact her and ask if she still makes them.

I love www.bebeaulait.com. Their Hooter Hiders and nursing covers are beautiful. I have given 3 of my girlfriends each one for their showers gifts and I have one myself. I am unsure of the size but check them out.

I just ordered a cover an hour ago from www.uddercovers.com. They have covers by themselves and in a gift set. With the promo code "babies" it will knock $32 off. For a cover by itself with shipping/handling it is $9.95, for the gift set it is $14.95. The link was sent to me from two different friends from two different states.
