Any suggestions on where to find AFFORDABLE nursing shirts? I would like to be able to nurse in a sling and I think a nursing top would really help. I'm very small chested and just whipping my boob out the top of a normal shirt doesn't work for me! I also don't want to spend a fortune, I'm even willing to purchase used. Any ideas? Thanks!

What can I do next?

We had very little money when we had our 2nd as my hubby was in school. I bought a couple of inexpensive nursing tanks ($10 each I think) and wore those under my regular shirts. That way I could just pull up my shirt but my back and tummy were fully covered with the nursing tank. I used my sling tons too for nursing!

I nursed both my kids for 16 and 20 months respectively and I only ever bought one real nursing shirt and learned that I didn't need it and didn't need to spend the $.

Ive been nursing exclusivley for almost nine months. I had some hand-me-down nursing bras and the be honest, I hated them! I found that a regular bra with a thin and flexable cup gave me enough support and was easily manipulated and folded under my breast. As far as tops go, I stocked up on a whole bunch of V-neck tees. I wear men's Hane's undershirts in a size too big (I would opt for a medium since you say you are small) around the house and to bed. When going out, the Hane's tend to stretch a bit at the neck so I found that something with a lycra/cotton blend held its shape and still allowed for the easy access needed. Victoria's Secret Pink line makes tees that I have become addicted to! If its cold out, I throw a sweater that opens in front on and I'm good to go. The tees are usually on sale for 2 for $25 and there are a TON of other options from Vicky's. Just think stretch :)

I also do what Dori suggested, cami's with built in shelf bras are a great option to wear under shirts that don't have the neckline your looking for. Lets be honest, we've given up so much for baby as is, holding on to a little bit of fashion sense is a small way to make you feel good! Invest in a few of these and you can continue wearing your pre-pregnancy clothes through nursing. I was feeling the financial constraints of having to completely reinvent my woredrobe, but with a bit of ingenuity you can make nursing easy and inexpensive! Good luck, hope this helped!!

I only had one or two tops for home and I think I got them at Target in the clearance section. I would go to the 2nd hand stores and look there. I got a lot of my maternity clothes there at Value Village on their $.99 tuesdays. I don't know if they are still doing it now...that was over 5 years ago. You could check out craigslist or ebay too.

Target nursing tank saved my life. It's reasonably priced and I wore them under all my shirts that you can lift up to nurse under. Best part...it covers your tummy so you aren't exposed at the belly. Works great with regular button down shirts too to open from the top. Can't remember if it's in maternity or underwear section, but you will not regret this purchase!

Do you have an H&M near you? I got ALL my maternity clothes there, sometimes they have 2 tops for $10 and they always had some sort of sale on.

I think Target may have some cheap ones too.

Check online at all chain retailers and see if they have any sales. If they have sales online for mat clothes, they may have in store too.

I nursed for 18 months and we were always on the go (so alot of public/in the car nursing). I bought a nursing tank (one of every major color - black, white, blue, pink, tan, gray) so it would match anything I wore. Always wore it under a regular shirt/sweater. I even had a black lacy fancy one that I wore under dresses for events/weddings/etc. That way I could pull up (or down, whichever you prefer) my shirt/sweater and feel Iike I was completely covered. They worked awesome and very comfortable. Gave me plenty of support and discreet. I even still wear them under shirts/etc. because they don't look like a nursing tank. If you didn't examine the closure on top, you would never know. I bought all of mine at Target and Kohl's. Good Luck!
