Hopefully someone can suggest something they've tried here that's been successful... Basically I have a large oil stain on my driveway from my car. I know I should've put something under the car to catch the oil, but I didn't and so now I have a large stain on the driveway that has been sitting there for about 6 months. I now park in the garage and use an old piece of carpet to catch the oil. Anyway, my HOA sent me a notice about cleaning it up, so I got some stuff that was "green" from Home Depot, and it faded the spot, but it is still there. What can I do? At this point the stain is not fresh anymore... *sigh* Anyone have any advice? Thanks in advance.
I know that the Queen of Clean recomments using the WD-40 (spray it on and let it sit for 15 (I think)) and then use liquid dish soap to scrub it and wash it. I've used that technique on old grease and oil stains on my husband's clothes and it's worked like a charm. Plus it's usually stuff people have around the house so it's worth a try. Good luck!
I am tring to remember what my dad use last summer. We had one in our garage. I thing he used BIZZ powered landry detergant and WD-40. He spraied WD first, then poored Bizz on it let it soaked during dinner, then took a Long handle broom with hard brissles and the rinsed. It worked luck a charm. BUT he might of added something when I was not looking. I know this sounds CRAZY but it work on anything that I tried to remove that had GREASE or a OIL BASE to it. So give it a shot. I have removed PURPLE silly puddy from BRAND NEW white carpet and you couldn't tell that it was even there, Oil paint from my sofa, cloths. You name it . It has been a Ancient IRISH SECERET!! (I'm not Chinese.) in the family for yrs.

My husband got some "Purple Power" from Lowes or maybe Home Depot I think. It is a concrete degreaser and cleanser. We used it to clean the garage when we moved into this house.
Try concrete etch. They sell it at Home Depot also. The one brand I can think of is Sikagard. It comes in a large bottle and is red. You have to have chemical gloves and a chemical resistant scrub brush to use with it, because it will eat through some scrub brushes, but it gets EVERYTHING out of your concrete.
I can't remember what my parents used, but there is some stuff out there that cleans oil stains off concrete really well. My brother used my parents driveway to restore a 1958 Plymouth about 15 years ago. Big oil stain, almost the size of the whole car. But it's gone now (car and stain both). Go to an auto parts store and they should be able to recommend something. Sorry I can't tell you what they used, but I just don't remember. It's a common problem, though. There is stuff out there that works great. Good luck!
I suppose you could call Car Talk tomorrow morning and ask them. I'm sure they'd know exactly what to use.
I've heard that regular Pepsi will take oil stains out. I don't know if it's true or not.
You could put kitty litter on it that helps.
have you tried Dawn dish soap? It works on oil stains in the laundry and they use it to help clean the birds effected by oil spills.
