anyone have any experience with(or can ask auto hubbies about) transmission fluid stains on a COLORED stamp concrete driveway. it just happened last night. we cleaned up the oil, tried dawn, but the stain is still very bad. is there any effective way to get it out. im so sick about it, we paid alot of money for the driveway, and its a brand new house. now it looks awful:(

ETA thanks for the sugetions, kep them coming, lol. after i posted, i put a thick layer of dawn all over the stain and scrubbed away and just left it there. today and for the next three days it will be raining so im just letting the rain rinse away the soap and will be trying the suggestions. with the rain i wont be able to let anything sit, so im going to have to wait to try the suggestions which is going to drive me nuts!

What can I do next?

try WD-40 or Lestoil. I am not certain that either of those would work, just what came to mind. Certainly try a small spot first! I'm also wondering if you might need to absorb the fluid that has soaked into the concrete first. Kitty litter? Maybe you can call the concrete company and see what they might recommend. Good luck!

i've heard that if you pour some kitty litter on it & rub it in with your foot it will help. i think my parents did that when i was a kid few times & it worked. good luck!

You could try Sol-u-mel from Melaleuca. It is fantastic, and would probably clean it up.

Try to powerwash it with cleaner that is made for concrete. You'd be surpirsed what you can get out with a powerwasher. Good luck.

this may sound crazy but try a can of coke on the spot
let it sit, and then wash it away after a day or 2.

No auto hubby here, just auto mommy....lol. Use kitty litter. It will soak up the oil in time. Good luck!

Amy,
Pick up Grease Lightning and saturate the spot, then scrub it really well, then let it sit for a bit and rinse it off. If that doesn't completely remove the spot redo it only this time let the Grease Lightning sit longer. I swear by the stuff, the only thing is you can't use it on wood, but it works great and has even gotten printing ink out of my husbands cloths after months of washing and drying. A few months ago my son had his pen explode in his pants pocket and all over the tan seat of my car. Unfortunately it was in the back seat and I didn't see it for a few days, but used the Grease Lightning and it came right out. Hope this works that great for you.
Hugs,
T.

I don't know about transmission fluid, but we used muriatic acid to clean oil stains from a driveway once. We lived in military housing and even though we didn't leave the stains, we had to get rid of them. You can get muriatic acid from a pool supply store. It's what is used to clean pools, but it's a very strong chemical, and you don't want to get it on your hands. You should try to contact someone who does colored concrete and ask if it's safe for the coloring. It did a beautiful job on the driveway my husband had to clean.

Try Simple Green or go to an auto parts store and see if they can recommend something.

My hubby does concrete and asphalt driveways for a living. he says it's going to be hard to get up but the best way is to cover it in kitty litter. Let it absorb the oil for a few days - a week. Most, if not all of the oil should come up with the kitty litter.

I don't know if this will work, but try Awesome Orange cleaner. It works on some off the toughest grease. It's really great in the kitchen and it rinses easy. It truely is awesome just like my sister said. I buy it at a dollar store, not sure if it is the dollar tree, or dollar general. Very inexpensive, let me know if it works.

Amy,

There is a product on the market that will take it out. A Consumer Direct Marketing company puts it out. Please send me an e-mail with your phone number and we'll set you up with the link so that you can see if it's something you want to do
