On Birth Control, PMS Symptoms but No Period...5 Days Late?

OK, bear with me.

I had a baby a little over 4 months ago. I went on birth control (pill) after having her. After going on bc I had 3 periods that were like clockwork. They came every 4th Saturday in the morning. I was supposed to start another period last Saturday but still haven't started. I'm 5 days late. However, I have all the signs and symptoms of PMS and have had them for over a week and a half now. Cramping on and off, moody, tired, increased appetite, increase in discharge. But no period. I keep running to the bathroom thinking I've started, but nothing. On the day I was supposed to get my period I spotted VERY lightly (only a little on TP when I wiped), and only for a few hours. That's it. I'm so confused. What is going on? I thought that if I was just going to skip a period due to bc that I wouldn't have PMS symptoms.

I'm a little worried because I got pregnant with my daughter while on bc, a different kind. However the symptoms I am having now are not like the symptoms I had when I was pregnant with her. With her I was dizzy, I'm not dizzy now. But I'd like to know what's going on with my body! Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Oh, I forgot to add that I took a pregnancy test today and it was negative. Which just adds to my confusion!

What can I do next?

If your pregancy test is negative you are probably just experiencing some hormonal fluctuations. It pretty common after birth and missing periods while on the pill is one of the more common side effects as well.
I used to miss periods on the pill all the time and my OB/GYN told me it was pretty common and to take an OTC pregnancy test when it happened.
Good luck.

I'm having the same problem. I stopped having periods after 3 months. My OBGYN said to continue for a few months because my body may be adjusting. My pregnancy test was also negative. But it's been a couple months since and so my OBGYN now says the pill may be too strong or not appropriate for me. I'm meeting with her tomorrow to discuss what we should do.

I would take another pregnancy test in a few days and if it is still negative, I would see my doctor. I got pregnant the first two times on bc. my first was on the patch (which I had an allergic reaction to) on my honeymoon and the second was about 4 months after my first was born and I was on the mini pill and breastfeeding. My boys are 13 months apart. I had to take a second pregnancy test with my first because the first was negative.
