One Year Old Screams Continuously During Breakfast

My daughter has been eating in the highchair since she was about 6 months old and had no problems. The past two weeks she has been screaming while I am trying to feed her breakfast. I thought maybe it was because her gums were hurting, but she is fine as soon as I let her down. She doesn't do this during lunch or dinner. And this isn't just crying...I am talking about screaming to the point that my ears hurt and she makes herself gag. I have tried feeding her earlier, later, without the tray on the highchair (which helped a little) and even just giving her finger foods to feed herself. I don't know what is going on and I am tired of starting the day off like this. Please help!

What can I do next?

OMG! I am not alone! I thought my daughter was the only one doing this...she screams cry and really loud! I thought it was the breakfast, maybe she wanted something different..but nope she wouldnt even drink her milk! So I have started sitting her at the table with me and letting her feed herself. Its working so far...Next Iam going to get her own little table so she can feel like the big girl she is!haha
Hope it helped! Good luck!

Have you tried letting her have a bowl of Cheerios or cut up fruit in a bowl, not sitting at the table? Neither of my kids are excited about breakfast and we have found that if we give them their food on our end tables in a small bowl that they will eat it over an hour or so while they are playing. We do this with Cheerios, waffles, fruit, etc. I was tired of being stressed that they weren't eating, so I did this and now I don't worry as much.

Good luck!

By 1, mine 3 were all in a booster (with straps) and feeding themselves only table food. Have you tried only giving her food she can self-feed. At this age, they are wanting to be so independent. This might just be her way of trying to tell you. If she still screams, I would just remove her from the table and try again when she initiates it. Good luck.

It sounds like she is wanting some independence... Does she feed herself more at lunch and dinner?
I would let her try to feed herself more.
