Ok. At the moment I'm a stay at home mom. I been looking into taking a online course to get a associate degree in either:

Associate of Arts with A Concentration in Health Care Adminstartion-Medical Records OR
Associate of Arts with A Concentration In Elementary Education

I been looking up the info of the two degrees and need help finding EXACTLY what they both mean and what kind of jobs you can get AFTER you finished your degree. These is the two that I can't debate on and what one I want to take up. So if yall can get me some info on either one and what one seems to be better I really would appreciate it, Thanks!! :)

What can I do next?

Make sure that the university is ACCREDITED!!! if it's not accredited, you will be wasting your time and money.

The school should have counselors on-line as well that you can talk with to get the detailed information you need to make your choice as well.

The health care administration degree might allow you to work in a hospital setting or a doctors office managing it....

The elementary education - well, our school district requires the teacher to have a bachelors so it might help you get a job in the day care industry while you pursue your bachelors or better..

GOOD LUCK!!!

I'm thinking the AA in Elem Ed might land you a job in a childcare center or as an elem. school aide and the AA is Healthcare Admin-Med records would put you in a hospital or physician office with billing, etc.
Where would you rather work?

Maybe you could call Human Resources at one of your local hospitals and ask them about what kinds of positions you'd be qualified for with that degree. I would guess someone at your local school could answer that question too. I don't know for sure, but my guess is that you'd have better luck finding a job in healthcare.
Best wishes with whichever path you choose!! =o)

I would be very apprehensive of a Medical Records degree. Doctors offices have to move to EHR (Electronic Health Records) or EMR (Electronic Medical Records) in the very near future or they will pay penalties (if they haven't adapted them already). I think this has streamlined practices allowing a medical assistant to do other tasks. Good luck.

I reallly think it boils down to whether or not you want to work in a doctor's office handling billing/insurance and patient records...

or whether or not you want to be a teacher's aid. Hopefully someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think that you can actually teach with an Associates. I think you need something more.

If you can go to a local school rather than online I would do that. You can sign up there and they may have their own online or video course, but at least you would have all of the school resources and local resources and a live teacher to talk to. Try a community college first.

There's a lot of talk now about "degree mills" online, they charge a lot of money and give you a degree no one takes seriously anyway. My friend is a single mom who was lured into the promise of career advancement by phoenix university. She now is on debt $40k and has a "masters" degree which is meaningless to her employer. The online U keeps calling her to go
for her PHD! So she too the courses in the hopes of making more money but all she is, is more broke.
Good luck to you :)

I think that 95% of those online schools are pure money makers and all they care about is your money and probably 80% of them are simply a fraud that give you a worthless piece of paper.
With an AA in elementary education you can't do ANYTHING in most states. Maybe wit will give you an edge to get an hourly position as a "classroom assistant" or something like that. That degree is only for people who are planning to get a 4 year degree in elementary education (basically the first two years of a four year degree) to become teachers.
Healthcare admin - I don't know, but I would talk to some recruiting agencies about how they view these degrees from online schools... my guess is not so highly regarded.

I would look around at your local community colleges - most have online classes that are much more affordable than those private online schools. If it has to be an online school, I would only ever pick a major that is 100% transferable to a 4 year school ( the more renowned online school do have agreements with "real schools" that accept their classes for credit).
