I just wanted to get everyones opinions on what they thought about a gps type system for their kid. Basically you can track where your kid is when they have the device. There is also a way the device can tell if it's removed. It also can be used for pets and the elderly. I just thought it would be great for outings and just give peace of mind. There are so many crazy people in the world today. My husband thinks I am crazy and it's a dumb idea. What do you guys think. Would you buy this item for your kids if it was affordable? Would like to hear your opinions about pro's and con's to it

So What Happened?

Thank you everyone for your input. I am opposed to the implants. I agree that it can be the mark of the devil (not to mention my grandma would never let me live it down if I did something like that even if she is gone) I have got somethings going and see where it takes me. I will keep you guys posted on the outcome

You should patent your idea (if it hasn't been already) and package/market it then take it on Oprah! Seriously, that is a good idea :) Probably not impantable on the person, that's a little too creepy--but something that could be put on their clothes or shoes.

I do like the idea of a GPS phone they carry w/ them, with emergency phone numbers.. but an actual chip in my kid's body? No way. I agree w/ the other lady, too close to the mark of the beast.

I think a gps on your kids is just pushing it a bit too far. It seems to me that parents just need to pay a little more attention to their kids instead of trying to find ways to keep up with them that require no effort on the parents part.

I personally think that a gps tracker that attaches to the child's clothing is a great idea. I do not know which system you are looking at specifically, but I applaud you for being pro-active in protecting your child. No device or ID product can make up for a lack of supervision, but they can definitely enhance a child's safety and should be encouraged. Child ID is important and too often overlooked. You might be interested in checking out www.mypreciouskid.com for a child locator and other ID products. I used to sell these items, and still have some inventory of ID kits, but not the child locator.

You might also consider taking a child safety course. I teach abduction prevention courses in the OKC metro and surrounding areas. I have classes that are tailored for different age groups, for parents only, and for whole families, as well as for schools, preschools, daycares, scout troops, parent groups, churches, etc.
The classes are designed to empower kids and make safety fun and easy to remember, and not threatening or frightening.
If you or anyone else is interested in a class, I can be contacted at ____@____.com.

I'm all over it! I've thought about this several times and don't understand a bit why it's not out there yet. Why would we do this for our pets, but not our children? My boys are too young right now to be riding their bikes around the neighborhood, but I know that time will come soon, and I would feel so much more comfortable knowing I could track exactly where they were. Keep me informed, and like the other mom said, let me know if you need an investor!

For religious reasons I would not want an actual chip implanted in my children...too much like the mark of the beast in revelations. That's another subject though :)

I would LOVE to find a way to keep my kids absolutely trackable and safe. But I never allow them out of my site when they are little and by the time they are young adults they wouldn't like it LOL.

They have these chips inside of my daughters manager shirts with McDonalds. I was really worried at first because I thought they were gps devices. They are actually just name identifiers so they can send the clothes to the cleaners and sort out whos is whos. Something like that could put in their clothing, shoes etc.

My friend and I actually were talking about this a couple of weeks ago! It could even be chip, like they do for dogs. Malls could have the scanners and when a little one gets separated, security could just scan them for their phone number or whatever! Definitely a great idea, let me know if you need an investor, that's the kind of product I would like to be behind!

Hi J.!

I understand your thoughts on this device as I was totally scared for my children as they grew up. Yes, there is lots of craziness in the world, more so than years ago, but that is because there are more people in the world. All you can do is be the best parent possible and watch over your child and for their safety.

As for the device, I am totally against it. It has started with good intentions as most devices do. The sad reality of it is that it will go towards evil or the furthering of evil in the future. I am a Christian and I believe that this device is going to be used against us, people. Now it is a simple idea for safety by tracking and one in the works for health records and then later for payment of money. Then the last idea of an implant used to become a mark for the beast. It could show loyalty towards Satan and so I am against any implant used in such a way. Anything I can object to to slow down the process of this mark for the beast is good. This is my belief and certainly not meaning such a thing will happen soon but is just the stepping stone for the opening to such ideas in the future.

God Bless, Lilly :)

I like the idea, for safety and have often thought they should be readily available for purchase in all types of accessories for children. But as with all things, once the criminals learn about these items they will most likely just remove them...so in an abduction situation you only have about 30 minutes to an hour to actually find your kid...unless your dealing with a really dumb criminal. You would have to have a gps device on hand for this to really work.

I think it's great, especially in large crowded areas. What exactly is it, I'd love to know and possibly get one? :-)
