Does anyone have experience with Baby's Only Organic Dairy Formula and the DHA/ARA Supplements? If so, how much of the supplement are you using? I was using Earth's Best and then learned that the process used to extract the DHA/ARA ingredient uses toxins. Apparently, a complaint was made was made to the FDA about it. The same DHA/ARA is used in Similac Organic. In any event, I swithced to Baby's Only and have to supplement the DHA/ARA. They use a different process to generate these ingredients. I want to give my baby an organic formula, but what's worse: not enough DHA/ARA or toxins? The word is still out on DHA/ARA. There are some studies that are inconclusive on the benefits. Others suggest that we create DHA/ARA naturally. My pediatrician indicated that babies need the DHA/ARA. If anyone has any insight on this it would very helpful.

What can I do next?

S., If you want to read the report on DHA/ARA it is on www.cornucopia.org I would be REALLY surprised if the Earths Best Organic Formula uses something different for their DHA/ARA because Mertic is the only one making it. The only other DHA/ARA is in fish oils. Their is also a suit pending against the organic companies for using the Mertic DHA/ARA as they are violating the organic code by putting it in organic formulas.
There is NO nutritional value at all in any of the man made DHA/ARA and it only causes digestion issues i.e. reflux and such.
The only way for a baby to get DHA/ARA is breastmilk or fish oils.
Good luck. check out the site it is a real eye opener.

I am currently giving my son (10 months) Baby's Only. It was the only formula he did not throw up. So I guess that says something about the formula. I also worried about the DHA/ARA so I started to give him fish oil. He is a very healthy baby. He has only been sick once. He is meeting all his milestones is above average in weight and length. My daughter (4) who was given Enfamil with DHA/ARA also met all her milestones and was above average in weight and length but is and was sick all the time. Last Nov. she was diagnosed with reflux. Not that there is a connection but I feel better about giving my son Baby's only than Enfamil. Hope this helps.

My pediatrician told me that the DHA/ARA is more important for premies that studies showed it helped them tremondously, but for a healthy child, it was just something for parents to pay more for a formula. While I know it is imporatant to do the very best for your baby, I have to say that I didn't feed my eldest DHA/ARA formula and my smallest had it. My oldest son didn't seem in any way deficit for not taking it. He is taked gifted courses at school. My youngest is just as healthy as his brothers. I suggest doing more research into it. I usually try to read the actual studies, then you can know if they are TRUE scientists or not. I hope you find what you are looking for.
