Packing for Week Long Vacation

We are going on a week long vacation next month. This will be the first vacation with our two sons, ages 2yr 9mos and 10 months. I am determined to be prepared for this trip and not find myself stressed out from packing right before we go. I've already started a list of what I need to pack. Are there any super-organized Mammas out there who have a list or spreadsheet of "what to pack for vacation?" that they would like to share? Or any Mammas who can share from their past vacation experience what they forgot to pack or wish they had thought to bring with them? We'll be traveling by plane and then 3 hours in a rental car and then staying in a condo. Any traveling words of wisdom and packing tips would be greatly appreciated!

What can I do next?

Well, I am sure you thought of these things but....
A night light, Benadryl, and Tylenol are the must haves. Also, a couple of band aides will get you past a meltdown if a scratch or anything were to occur. Extra pacifiers and snacks that are simple and can be eaten at anytime. These things should be in your purse, fanny pack or easy to reach diaper bag. I pack my purse and wear a fanny pack to have the things I need front and center with hands free for the little ones. I have two that are 12mo. apart and I can remember when they were at that age it was awful digging through the over packed bags for these things. I always over packed and it was stressful trying to find what I needed through all that I didn't, so my advise would be take less and plan to buy an outfit or two or do a load of laundry on the third day. I would also suggest getting collapsible booster seats. A portable tv will help with travel time, airport sitting, restaurant waits, and many other situations. Make sure it is charged and can be charged in the car (simple converter works great for all plug-ins). A small movie case with three or four movies, maybe a few more in the suitcase. Oh, those pacifier leash things are a sanity saver as well. For the air port security, everyone should wear slip on shoes, no belts, and have all electronics easy to get out. For little ones security, have wet wipes on hand and bring two small blankets. Those planes are nasty! I would like to part with always tell the boys what fun thing is to come. Even in the car, what movie do you want to watch or snack can we get, or even how close we are to the destination will help them get through the boredom. A stop at Target for a small but new toy is great for the car ride and plane ride home also. Even gas stations have small toys :] enjoy the moment, it will go so fast!

You didn't say where you were going, but I'd recommend hitting google and seeing what might be there for traveling with kids, packing with kids, etc. and also destination specific packing queries. There may even be spreadsheets out there with just what you're looking for. Good luck!

I don't have to deal with this much anymore because our daughter is now 13 and packs herself.BUT, when we would travel (always by air), we would stop at a target or someplace like that to get a cheapee umbrella stroller.

At the end of the vacation, we left the stroller at the hotel for someone else to use along with any pool toys we bought, etc. We packed as lightly as possible and bought what we needed when we got to the destination.

We are heading back to Sandestin in August and I am planning to ship a few things to the hotel so we won't have to deal with it on the plane or rental car.

Asheville is Great. Go see the Biltmore House....AMAZING!!
