I have always been an over packer and with the baggage fees now I am trying to control myself. My husband and I will be taking our 4 and 1 year olds to Disney is Sept. What do you Disney mammas usually take? How many outfits per day? Also what kind of shoes are best for the kids...I want something good to walk in but that can also get wet in the outside water areas. How many diapers and such do you normally count on?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!!

What can I do next?

You can always buy diapers once you get into town to save space. There is a wal-mart in very close proximity to Disney. Put the kids in tennis shoes. They are going to take them off for any water areas but I'm not remembering any water areas that the regular Disney parks have. Maybe they've added some since I've been there though.

I always plan an outfit a day (maybe 2 if I know we'd be going out to dinner too but on big park days we'd eat either there or right after leaving so no need to change clothes) but carry a back up outfit with me at all times. All the hotels have washer/dryers so you can always toss a load of laundry in if you need to.

Don't forget to take things like the baby tylenol, sunscreen and such!

Ahhh I feel your pain! We drive every year and I still feel like I am always at a loss. Here is what I did for this year's trip in May:

-2 outfits per day (1 that was "park friendly" and 1 that was slightly nicer for dinner/park time in the evening)
-4 bathing suits (there were times he needed two a day, and it was nice to know that we didn't have to wait on them to dry)
-Sneakers (although my son never wore his), sandals with straps and crocs. My son honestly wore his crocs the entire week wherever we went. (There are spots in all of the parks to get wet anymore, so plan on your kiddos possibly wanting to do it.)
-5 sets of PJs
-14 pair of undies for your 4 year old (at least)
-I would pack more diapers than you think you will need...I'm sure they are crazy expensive at Disney.

We go every year, so if you have any other questions, please feel free to PM me!

I agree pack 2 outfits per child and don't forget the sunscreen and swim suites too. Also, I would pack a light jacket as sometimes the air conditioning is still cranked high for some of the shows and rides that time of year :)

If you a specific brand of diapers that are hard to find, I would pack diapers to last a week plus some extra.

For the hotel I would bring a few safety items like plug covers and door handle safety knob as well.

For the flight, pack an empty sippy cup (or cups) in your carry on and then fill after getting through security.

Have a magical trip! I am a former Cast Member for Disney and can't wait to take my little one too!

Gosh! Wish I was going!!!

Each time we've gone to Disney, I've packed 3 different colored pillowcases to place dirty laundry in that can go in the wash with the clothes they will contain. It will make your trip to the laundry a breeze since you just dump the clothes in followed by the pillowcase. Three works for us - lights, darks, and reds. Use more if you need to.

in september it will be hot hot hot. so plenty of sunblock lol. I would pack shorts and tops. at least one long sleeved jacket or sweater type thing to carry in the bag for inside airconditioned places. if your going to have a car with you get the diapers there dn't try to pack them. as far as wet stuff. i wouldn't bother with extra shoes. bring comfortable walking shoes for inside the parks and flipflops or sandles for the waterparks. an absolute must is a big bag of some sort to bring with you. you can throw diapers, snacks, change of clothing etc. and rent a stroller when you get there. you will definitly need it. I see a lot of people are suggesting a huge amount of clothing. I didn't do that. Each disney hotel has a laundry area. I take just enough clothing for one outfit a day. and plan to do a load of laundry while i am there. the laundry area is right next to the pool at the pop century hotel. the kids and hubby swam while I threw the stuff in, then i swam, then folded then swam again. and wala no need for an extra $25 baggage fee for all the extra clothing. one thing i would suggest though is have a complete change of clothing for each child in your carry on stuff. in case of accident onthe plane

Plan on 2 outfits a day. Sneakers for the parks. There weren't too many wet rides at Magic Kingdom. Inexpensive crocs or water shoes for the hotel pool are fine.

If you have a little girl that wants to see the princesses, there is a tent in ToonTown, between Mickey and Minnie's houses where 3 of the princesses and Tinkerbell sit all day. Also, Belle has a 'storybook corner' near the Starlight Cafe/Right side of the castle.

My daughter took her play dresses, but it was just too darn hot. So she actually wore her princess nightgowns 2 days, and met the princesses in it!

Oh, and take LOTS of sunscreen, hats and sunglasses. If you do a carry on, you can only take 3 oz bottles of sunscreen, but it you put them in your checked baggage the size doesn't matter.

Since you will be checking your bags, I would do one carry one that has nothing but diapers, swim diapers, etc. Also take a bookbag/tote with a bunch of dry snacks, crackers. You'll have to buy drinks once you are pass security, but you can take whatever dry food you want.

Oh, and I had my 3y wear a buddy harness. It was a life saver in the airport since I didn't have a stroller. They sell them at Target in the Infant section. They come as a dog, cat, girafee.

Be sure to alternate shoes frequently. The best way to prevent blisters and very sore feet.

We went in Oct 2008 (kids were 11 & 13). It was hot and extremely humid. You might want to consider one light weight jacket or long sleeve shirt for each of the kids in case they get cold in the air conditioned restaurants. Don't forget bathing suits and swim diapers. A must is rain ponchos.

You'll do lots and lots of walking, wear good quality comfortable shoes.

If you're staying at one of the properties they have great laundry facilities. I originally thought who wants to do laundry on vacation, but since it was right next to the pool, I threw a load in, went swimming, jumped out, put in dryer, then right back into the pool, and then folded sitting pool side.

Have a great vacation!
