Call your Doctor, regardless...
He/she is the only one that can figure it out.

I have had 2 c-sections... and sure right after surgery you are in pain.
But post-surgery even at 6 weeks after... I was fine.

Call your Doctor.... your OB/GYN.

all the best,
Susan

I don't have personal experience with c-section pain but I am a nurse and have worked with post c-section moms and other surgeries. You had surgery, they cut you open, moved your muscles and sewn them back together. So yes you are going to have pain. You are not the only one. You should have been given some pain medication, you can also try Tylenol or Ibuprofen.Try alternating the two so you take something regularly. Have you tried ice packs to help with swelling? You also need to rest. I know as a new mom you have a lot on your plate but you do need to rest. Ask for help. If the pain continues call your physician. Hope this helps a little. Good luck.

I'm not sure if this is the type of pain you are referring to, but it has been 4 years since the birth of my little boy and I still get sharp stabbing pains if I move a certain way. This doesn't happen all of the time, but enough that I said something to my doctor. I was told that pain like that after a c-section is normally because of the tissues that had to be fixed. How long ago did you have your c-section?

How long ago did you have a c-section? I had mine 16 months ago and don't have anymore c-section related pain. If it was recent, it's very normal to have pain. My sister had pain for over 2 years, but nothing specific was wrong, when checked by her doctor. If it is very severe, call your doctor.

Really need more info. But yes I have felt abdominal pain after a c-section for years. I continually talked to my OBGYN about it. In the end, my doctor had to do surgery because it turned out that my uterus had attached itself to my abdomen wall and my bladder. He was able to detach the uterus from my abdomen wall but not totally from my bladder. But after the surgery, I no longer felt the pain. The amazing thing is that I had a third child (and another c-section) several years later.

I don't know if your pain is the same as mine was but it is definitely something to talk to your doctor about. After a few weeks, you should feel very healed after a c-section and experience NO pain.

You are not the only one, but you need to see a doctor. I had extremely bad pain for months after mine. It has been over a year and I still have it some days. But mine was because of the way it healed. The inside muscles healed to the scar tissue on the underside of the incision. I was told that they could do surgery to remove the scar tissue, but that had a risk of it healing the same way. Or possibly worse. So right now I haven't decided if the surgery is worth the risk of it being worse. The point is there are a number of things that could be causing your pain. You need to see your doc.

I had two C-secions and the pain was mostly right after the surgery, and then occasional sharp pains in my scar area.
My friend had a C-section with severe pain even on the meds. Not to scare you but she had a severe, severe uterine infection. Call your doctor, describe the pain, and see about a check up.

I have had 3 c-sections and yes, there is some pain right after and for a few weeks - maybe 6 weeks - after that but not for too long. I was fortunate with all 3 of mine. Except for the pain killers they gave me during my stay in the hospital, I never needed any pain killers so I can't really relate. How long has it been since you had your c-section? If it was recently, be patient and take some ibuprofen; it should do the trick but if it were more than say, 5 months ago, I wouldn't wait too much longer...

I do know that you shouldn't be doubled over in pain. But no matter what, if you can, see your doctor. There could be something else going on.

I had a great deal of pain after my second c-section and it was only when I asked the dr. to renew my pain meds that she said, wait a minute... you shouldn't be in this much pain for this long. I agreed completely! ;} She asked me to come in and she found that I had endometriitis. I have no idea how to spell it, but you get it, right? The key is the -itis part. Not -osis. It's a swelling of the lining of the uterus, if I remember correctly. It needed to be taken care of with antibiotics. Good news is, as soon as I started taking the meds, I felt much better... completely better within a couple of days.

I don't know if that's what you have, but I would certainly ask your dr. In my case, it wouldn't have gone away by itself and would have gotten worse without treatment. On the other hand, it wasn't serious, and went away quickly. Good luck, and congratulations on your new baby! ;)

You are not alone in having pain. I went to Duke, and they have helped with the pain management.
