craigslist is a centralized network of online urban communities, featuring free classified advertisements (with employment, housing, personals, for sale/wanted, services, community, events, gigs and resumes categories) and forums sorted by various topics. Type craigslist.com into your browser and choose chicago from the right hand side and then look a the different listings.

Craig's List (craigslist.com) is a website where people in your area and other areas of the United States post personal advertisements at no charge. I have found it extremely helpful in finding everything from jobs to real estate. Go to the website, on the right hand side you would choose "Chicago". You will then see numerous categories. Choose "Services" at the bottom. You will get the opportunity to enter key words in each category, this is where you will type "Plainfield", "babysitter", etc. Please note that this site is not necessarily supervised, anyone can place ads here, but you will be surprised with the deals you get on some things. Craig's List is like a giant nationwide classified list. You choose the city first and then click on what you are interested in (for sale, personals, etc.). It is www.craigslist.com. I have used it to buy quality used furniture. I am not sure I would use it for finding a babysitter however. Sometimes you run across shady people who I am not sure would be trustworthy with kids. To find a babysitter I would ask neighbors, friends, church, ? I hope I helped in some way.

Anyway, Craigs list is an online "classified ad" community. Its very interesting and has everything. I have been looking for part time in my home child care beginning in the Fall...so I have posted a few free ads looking for a sitter/nanny. I got a response from a woman in Planfield who is just starting her own daycare near us. Here is the web site http://chicago.craigslist.org/kid/ just search for plainfield and you can see what's showing up.
