Does anyone know of a good pediatrician in the Chicago area, since the one I have really is not working for me and my baby and would like someone who pays attention and takes the time to listen and explain to your issues, near Midway airport that would be awesome but willing to travel to find the right doctor. I would prefer to take him to the University of Chicago hospital doctors, but don't you need to be refered?

What can I do next?

Although sadly, I no longer live in the Chicago area (moved to boston 3 months ago), I still keep in touch with my pediatrician. Dr. Laura Mikhail @ Child & Adolescent - 1030 N. Clark. There is a parking garage or bus service so it's very convenient. There are 6 doctors in the pracice and all are very good, but she is/was my favorite. I have 2 boys, 2 and 4, and they LOVED her. If it was possible, I would fly back for every dr. appointment!

I see Dr. Donald Brown at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. While his offices are at Northwestern he is on staff at Rush, U of C, and Children's. I really like him and his partners. They're experienced, take time to listen, and return calls promptly. They also have a great website that addresses a lot of common issues.

Good luck.

I love Dr. Steven Hillel Rube at Lincoln Park Family Physicians. However, he may have moved and he may be closer to you now.. an internet search may help. Also, my current physician at La Grange Pediatrics, Dr. Julie Tumma is fantastic. Both of them are good listeners and very encouraging to parents. My oldest was premature and Dr. Rube was wonderful especially during those first weeks and months.

I took my 18 month old daughter to Northwestern Children's Practice and they were great. She saw Dr. Goldstein but everyone there seems nice. You can look them up at sweetbabies.com. They are downtown, but easy to get to and lots of places to get parking for like $8. I grew up in the Midway area myself and know there really isn't anything super close thats good. MacNeal is terrible. Christ is great for traumas but I haven't known too many people see pediatricians through there. I have had a couple friends go through LaGrange Hospital and they were very pleased. My daughter's doc is affiliated with Northwestern Hospitals. You don't need a refferal, just call the doctor referral line of any hospital and tell them you are looking for a pediatrician. They will ask questions like what kind of insurance you have and then direct you to a doctor. Message me if you have any more questions--Good Luck.

I would highly recommend the University of Chicago. I delivered both of my childern at that hospital. My child currently has a doctor with them now. The doctors are awsome, but remember they are a teaching hospital so there may be a doctor and an intern in the room with you, but they will always ask first. Oh yea you do not need to be referred. Just call ###-###-####.
