I had a miscarriage June 25 (with a full D & C) and then got my period July 23rd. It was a horriable awful period too, very heavy. But the great news is I then found out Oct. 3rd that I was pregnant again and now I'm 17 weeks along and so far so good. Best of luck and sorry about the miscarriage. I feel I didn't really get over it until I got pregnant again.

So sorry to hear about your recent miscarriage. Unfortunately, after a miscarriage (whether it's a very early one or a later one; I have had both) you really don't know when to expect the next period until it arrives. But I hear that some ladies that do get a very early miscarriage get their next period around the time they would usually expect it (i.e, if your period is a normal 28 cycle then you would get it in about 28 days after you started bleeding as if it were a normal period).

I'm so sorry to hear that you had a miscarriage. If you haven't already, you should schedule an appt. with an OB to be checked to make sure that if it was a miscarriage, things were fully resolved, and your body is healing correctly.

When I had mine, it was about 4 weeks until the next cycle - so around mid Jan.
Hugs,
M.

I'm sorry to hear about your miscarriage. Even early in a pregnancy, it's still a loss that you need to deal with, both physically and emotionally. It's difficult to predict with accuracy when you will get your next period, so I would just wait it out. And, it is not unusual for your body to take a few months to get back to normal. Just give it time.

The normal time frame to get your first period after a miscarriage is 5 - 7 weeks. I miscarried Oct 20 and then got my first period Dec 2. So you probably wont have one for a few more weeks.

Hi,
It sounds like what you had was a chemical pregnancy. Your last normal period was the first week of Nov, you should have had another the first week of Dec. but instead bled around the 16th after a positive test.

If you look up chemical pregnancy it should help to explain what happened. Basically the embryo didn't implant correctly or was so nonviable that the body rejected it immediately. In this case it is not unusual to only bleed for 7 days and not have a lot of tissue. 3 false positives are rare so for a couple days, yes your body was producing pregnancy hormones. Most women have had a chemical pregnancy and never knew it. The classic sign is a 1-2 week late period. Another is a home pregnancy test positive that can't be confirmed by the doctor. The hormones are only in your system for a couple days so it can be hard to verify.

As to your next period.... I'm fairly sure I went through this last January but I never tested. My cycle dates were then off a little for a couple months. Your body may wait until the first week of Feb to have a cycle again as it depends on when you next ovulate. I suspect that you will get it sometime in the next week. If you don't I'd call your doc to see if they are concerned, if not just wait it out until Feb.

I'm not sure if you are currently trying to conceive. If you are, there is a slim chance that your next cycle is late as you have already conceived again. Very rare, but possible. You might consider taking another hpt to verify this. You also might consider waiting though to avoid another "false positive".

Good luck and I hope everything turns out alright. I'm sorry for your loss. It's one of the reasons people are recommended to test the week after their period. It wouldn't have helped in your case but most chemical pregs are lost immediately and just show as a late period thus causing no emotional stress. Your post seems to be more concerned with moving on which is good.

if you had a positive pregnancy test, then had what seemed like a very heavy period, then had a negitive pregnancy test after that, then yes, all things point to you haven had a miscarriage. ok next question, when would you be getting your next period. it depends, are you on the pill now, have you been checked out by a obgyn to confirm both a previous pregnancy and a miscarriage, very important. next on the menu, if you have a miscarriage before and your period resumed after x many days then chances are good your period will resume at about the same number of days as it did the last time.

I had a miscarriage back in June. My period arrived 6 weeks later. If you have a D&C, your period should come about 4 weeks later, if you have a natural miscarriage, it takes about 6 weeks. It could be different for you since you miscarried so early. You need to confirm that you did miscarry. If so, your Dr. needs to make sure you lost all the tissue. There are pregnancy tests out there that look like a faint positive. I recently experienced this, then did research. I bought a store brand, and it looked like it could have been a positive, but what I was seeing was the evaporation line, 3 separate times!! Do not use pregnancy tests that show a blue line! Use ones with a pink line. I am sticking with First Response! No confusion or false positives with this one. Give yourself time, and listen to your body if something doesn't feel right.

Just wanted to mention that I had what you described in early May 2007. I'm sure it was an ectopic pregnancy b/c of the pain. My husband and I were trying to get pregnant, and so we continued to not use any form of contraceptive, and I was already pregnant by the end of May. (About two weeks.) I had many people tell me that after a miscarriage your body is more fertile. Obviously, from your other responses, that's not always the case-sometimes it takes your body time to get back to normal. I wanted to throw this in so that if you're trying to get pregnant again, or not using contraceptives, you'll know to check every month or so (I'd do it about a week after a missed period would have ended.) That way you can get to the Dr. asap for prenatal care. So sorry for your loss.

My deepest sympathies,
J.
