My son is now 9 weeks old and my period has still not returned. I had my period back within 4 weeks after having my first son. I am not breastfeeding and I not under any big stress. I have a lot of help with both of my children and I have just returned to work. I sometimes feel like my period is returning, but nothing happens. I would really like it to return, because I would like to start my birth control and my doctor said to start it with my period. My husband keeps joking that I am probably pregnant again, but I really don't think that it could be a possibility. Has anyone else experienced this? I could really use any advice! Thanks!

What can I do next?

It took me 3 months to get mine with my daughter and only a few weeks with both of my sons. i was concerned but my doctor had told me it was very normal for it to take even 4-6 months. i was waiting and worring a lot when i didnt get mine but it eventually worked out.

I had the same problems when I was pregnant with my first child. Except I didn't get my period for almost 5 months. I had the doctor run tests and found out that I had part of the plactia and 4 large masses of blood inside me. Not to scare you but I would wait till your 12 weeks without a period and then bring it up to your doctor. It sticks though and I feel for you in every way.

If you had sex without using any birth control you could be pregnant. My Cousin had a baby right before Thanksgiving and is now due to have another in September. So get a test and rule it out. But on the other hand I got my period back with my first right away and with my second things were different. I didn't stop bleeding for more than 6 weeks after Sophie was born than I had a break a regular period and then a long scary break during which I took a couple of tests both negative. After that I went back on track. I breastfed both kids though for 15 mos.

Good Luck
Jess

Apparently it can take a few months for your period to return even if you are NOT nursing. I don't blame you for being concerned, I had recently put up a request because I hadn't had my period after 10 months of nursing.

Every pregnancy is different (you'll hear that a lot). If you're really concerned (as I was):
*Take a pregnancy test.(Even if you don't think you are pregnant - I took 6 in the time I hadn't had my period)
*Talk to your doctor.
*And just take a good look at your life recently: has anything changed a lot? (Other than having Brodie, of course! Cute name, by the way!)

You could be pregnant again but it could also just be taking a long time. I would take a test if I were you because you'd hate to be doing things you shouldn't be in case you are. We are in the process of adopting and while looking online I've seen siblings as close together as 7 months because Mom got pregnant again right away and then the child was born early.
Can't hurt to check it out.
Good luck,
J.

I was 14 weeks postpartum before my period returned. I actually had postpartum bleeding for the forst 10 weeks, which my doc told me wasn't abnormal but at the upper limit. I'd talk to your doc, but wouldn't worry too much.

I would give it a little longer. But if it doesn't return in a couple more months I would ask your doc about "jumpstarting" it by getting on the pill. My period returned after the birth of my son but then stopped 6 months later (and didn't return). Tests showed all was normal and my doc said that this just happens sometimes where the body gets out of sync for some reason and a normal cycle can be reestablished with birth control pills.

It is completely possible you could be pregnant again, as long as you ovulate and were intimate, it's possible. You don't need a period to get pregnant.

You could talk to your doctor about doing a hormone levels test to see why you are not getting pregnant and if nothing is elevated, and you want one now, ask him for provera. I have PCOS and they have to use that to make my body "think" I ovulated and then 4 days after the last pill I get my period.

You could also just be careful if you are not ready for another, and wait it out. My sister had a period after 7 weeks, but my friend went almost 3 months after the birth of her child.
