Permanent EYE Make-up

Is there anyone out there who's gotten permanent EYE make-up? Is it really permanent as in it'll be there forever? Does it hurt; after all it's basically a tattoo on your eyelids. I am allergic to a preservative and fragrance found in most makeups so I have a hard time wearing makeup. If I decide to give this a try, I would of course have to make sure I'm not allergic to the dye. I’d love hear about your experience. Thanks!

I love my tattoo, but won't even consider an eyeliner tattoo. Sharp object near my eyes - not happening.

I'm not a fan... Because skin changes over time... Especially the eyes... Since its such delicate tissue. A girlfriend of mine works in an opthamogu office that specializes in eye cosmetic surgery. They do a lot of corrective eye tattoo surgery for perm makeup that now makes their eyes look icky (fine lines, and not so fine lines) outlined by the tattoo dipping down into them. Also color corrections. Black was NOT universally popular (come to find, looked great when young, but looked harsh when her hair darkened), brown that faded red and makes them look stoned, etc.

I'd try actual dyes (test on your inner wrist & behind your ears first. There's a henna type dye, for example, forget the name that's used on movie sets when the actors have to be wet all the time... Also temporary tattoos.

Needles near the eyes, couldn't handle that. I don't know anymore about it so I can't comment there. I know this isn't your question (so forgive me for being presumptuous) but your question spurred me.....Allergies are usually signs that your immune system isn't working as it should. Most people think if you don't get sick a lot, your immune system is okay. That's not necessarily so. My first thought would be a Naturopath for advise. I used to have awful allergies, including makeup problems, and now EVERY allergy I had is gone.

Just a thought. PM me if you want more info on what I did...

My aunt did her eyebrows, eyeliner, and lipliner a few years ago. It faded and changed color over time. Eyebrows were the worst cuz the brown turned kinda orange. She got it redone a month ago. My mom just got her eyebrows done and hers also turned orangesh after a year or so. She now has to use brown eyeliner over it to hide it!

My mother had it done. She had the eyeliner as well as her eyebrows done because she doesn't have much-lol! Anyways it isn't exactly "permanent" in time it does disappear and you have to get it re-done-or not. I want to say my mom has had hers for about a year now and it's still there. However, when she had hers done the gal that did hers had to re-do her eyeliner because the first time she did it -it didn't take all the way like it should have. Her eyes swelled up and even had some bruising and from what my mother said it was painful but not something unbearable-she underwent it twice so that has to account for something. She had hers done at a party but she works for an internal medicine office so I'm pretty sure they had someone qualified to do it and the reason it didn't take the first time I think was because the gal was overbooked with people and was trying to hurry which is NOT a good idea! These are your eyeballs people-you can't get another "set". I think my mom was crazy for doing it but it's her body and once everything was over and done with she is completely happy with it.

DONT DO IT! I did it and now every day I have to go over it because it looks so bad. I dont know what went wrong but I have black speckles on my eye lid now and one side is a thicker line than the other. It hurt but tolerable. It's a regret I now live with every day.

I handled the eye liner just fine. It hurt, but it was bearable. The one that really hurt bad was the lip liner right at the V on the top lip. Don't bother with any type of lip liner or lip stick because the food you eat will wash it out.

Make sure you know the person's work that tatoo's you. If they screw it up, it is on your face.

I know two people who have done it, and they are perfectly satisfied years later. One did her eyebrows, and--I swear--I don't even notice. They look so natural. Another did eyeliner. There's one little dot that always looks to me like her hand slipped a little while she was applying her make-up, but it doesn't look bad at all. She's a redhead with pale skin, and she thought that she always looked washed out.
