Up until about 3.5 my daughter LOVED taking a bath OR swimming in a pool but Hated getting her hair washed... It was the pouring of the water she hated (I would have thought scrubbing...).
If she got water in her eyes/face from bath/pool she was happy about it, from washing her hair she would have a little hissy... Always thought that was a dychotomy.

I do not know but showers scare young children maybe the water pressurer stronger.

For tub bath try putting rubber ducks and toys in with them My son when young loved to play with boats in the tub.
He also washed he rubber toy soldier. Short time bath was fun. M.

Have you tried giving him a shower instead? You could tell him it's like playing in the rain inside the house. You could even let him use an umbrella just to play with in the shower until he gets used to it. Maybe it's the thought of being in standing water that he doesn't like.

My daughter was always afraid to take a bath. When she was finally old enough to communicate her feelings to me, she told me that she was deathly afraid that she would get sucked down the drain.

I don't think this is fear as much as it is his need for control. he is getting older and is beginning to understand about his body more and wants to be in charge so to speak.
