Piano Lessons - Denton,TX

I live in the Houston area and I've been told the average is $1 a minute. So $30 for 30 minutes, etc. You can start as soon as the child can read as long as their fingers are long enough and strong enough.

my sons were 4 and 5 when they started. my 4 year old continues to play and he's 29 now, the older son lost interest when his little brother got better than him, but he can still play if he wanted to.
I think I paid 50 bucks a month for one lesson a week and that was back in the 80's. I took them to the lady's house for a 1hr lesson per week. Most of the work is done at home on your piano. Practice, practice, practice! Man, I miss those days!

I lived in Florida until two years ago, and my son went to a music school beginning at 4 years old, and it was $25 per half hour lesson.
We live in Ohio now, and have a teacher who comes to our home, she won't begin until 5 years old, and charges $15 per half hour lesson. My daughter turns 5 in December and will begin then.

4 years old and we pay $9 for 1/2 hour lesson.

My 5 year old daughter started a piano class this summer, and is now continuing in the second level of it. It's less expensive for a group class ($12 per 45 minutes) and she has fun (only 3 students are in class). We practice on a keyboard at home. If she continues to like it, I will have her take private lessons. If you have a music school nearby, check to see if they offer a class. The classes at ours begin at age 3, but like I said, she started at age 5 and is catching on pretty well.

I think that price depends on your teacher. I have 2 children in lessons and we pay, for the both, $70 a month. As far as a good age, that too depends on your teacher. Our teacher doesn't like to start them before they can read....so we didn't start either one until they were in 2nd grade. There are methods that can start the kids earlier but it does involve ALOT more parent invovlement to keep the child going.

I talked to several teachers who said they would start at age 5 as soon as she knew her alphabet. Others said 8. I waited till daughter was 8 and wish I had known about the early piano class for 5-6 year olds. They play lots of games and love it.

We started our daughter at age 4 but it as too early, she was going through the beginner book before her "brain" was ready for the next step, waiting a year would have been better according to her teacher. Our son started when he was 5 and although stopped about 6 years later, he still enjoys playing every so often and has moved on to other instruments.

I started piano lessons when I was 7 - same as my brother.
