Ok, I am seriously going to go crazy any day. My adorable little 11th month old is cutting teeth and is going through pure hell and dragging me right along with her. I work 4:30AM -1:00pm and get up at 3:00AM to be here on time. She is not sleeping through out the night and is up about ever hour SCREAMING her head off. I mean, this cry sounds like someone is torchuring her. I had her father take her to the doctors yesterday to see if there was a start of an ear infection, none. She currently has three teeth and did not act like this before. Luckily she has an awesome father who works second shift and therefore takes care of her at night while I TRY to get some sleep. He does go in a get her, change her and sometimes gives her a bottle to try to get her to go back to sleep. If he doesn't get her then she continues to scream and cry that deadly sound. I dont know what to do with her. I know most people are going to say let her cry, but that sound, is just so terrible and I feel like something is wrong and I dont know what it is. I also feel bad for her father because he gets NO sleep at all. I can at least lay down and close my eyes for a bit until 3am comes. Anyways, this has been going on for the past two weeks and any suggestions would be of great help.

What can I do next?

M.,
It might be her eye teeth which I remember being VERY bad. If it IS teething, have you tried Hyland's Teething Tablets? They are all natural and supposed to be great. Can you give her infant Tylenol to help with the pain? Wet, fold and freeze in a ziplock little washcloths and give them to her to chew on.
Kids often get congested when they are teething and it may be interfering with her sleep. Have you tried elevating the head of her crib and running cool mist in her room?
If she's in pain, I, personally would not let her just cry. She needs to be comforted. There is a difference between a kid who WILL NOT go to sleep and a kid who CAN NOT go to sleep because he/she is in pain or discomfort. There have been LOTS of posts on this site regarding teething and if I were you, I'd take a look at all of them because there are lots of great ideas!
Hang in there--this won't last forever--it just seems like it :) Good luck.

Try Hylands teething tablets and/or collic tablets. It'll help calm her down. They might be your God-send.

Give her the hyland tablets in her bottle and some motrin before bed. My son is teething also and it's so hard to decide to let them cry it out but you will be a better mom and a better person all around if you get some solid sleep. I'm on day TWO of letting him cry it out. Night one was hard and night two was even harder but i'm hoping that tonight he sleeps. They say it takes about 10 nights. Think of it this way - she's not getting the sleep she needs either. You are actually helping her by getting her to sleep - the crying breaks your heart. I had a hard time letting my oldest cry it out (we didn't start til 9 months with him). Sound like your husband is very supportive. Make it a team effort!!! Good Luck!!!

My oldest son will be 3 in August. He went through that with just about all of his first 8 teeth. It is very hard. I would use baby orajel everynight right before bed and gave him tylonal. It would normally get him through at least the first 6-7 hours.. Through the day cold washcloths were a great help, even toss the in the freezer for a little bit before I would give them to him.. Hope this helps.

Are you sure it's teething? If you are, then try teething tablets as well as Tylenol and/or Motrin. I prefer Motrin because it seems to alleviate the pain better. Talk to your peds about the appropraite doses and how to stagger the doses so she has relief until the teeth come through. Otherwise if it isn't teeth, and she isn't sick then you have to decide what sleep training method to use and train the little lady back to sleep. I use cry it out, but you seem like you don't like that solution so try searching through the other sleep files and find something you think you can stick to and start tonight!
