my youngest child is now ready to be potty trained(and believe me I'm very happy) but nothing will fit her. She is only 20 lbs and the pull ups are way to big(she's short) any suggestion on what I can use before I go crazy?
I am still on the hunt for some sm size undies for my youngest one ;0 but I have caught my oldest one putting doll undies on her that fit her so that's what I have been using( I know, I know how strange is that??).
cotton panties!!! I potty trained both kids..in 3 days in coton panties.. they have to feel the wetness to learn to stay dry.
I found gerber cotton trianing pants at my local walmart. they are thick and absorbant.. they had an 18 month size too.
My 22 lb son is potty trained and we never used pull ups or training underpants. I thought that they were totally unnecessary. A little secret nobody tells you, pull ups are really diapers :)
H & M makes small sizes in underpants too. Or there are WAHMs on etsy that will make small underpants. I've found that the cheaper the underware, the smaller they run so the 2T at Walmart fits my son great but at Gap they are huge on them. Good luck!
I agree pull ups are diapers, they dont really help w. training, they do i guess if you are really early on and just seeing if they are ready bc you can just use them like diapers and they are easier to pull up and down. but really they aer just diapers as they wont feel wet so it wont help much. go for training underpants that will hold a bit more than undies but not too much as you will still spring leaks, but that is the best way to learn. I am reading stress free potty training and it is pretty helpful so far, but I am not done. good luck.
Skip the Pull-Ups...they don't work with encouraging success. I had a similar problem with my son, so I just made him underwear (double layered where important) using my hubby's old t-shirts. Do you, or does anyone you know, sew?
pullups are similar to diapers but they are thinner & allow the child to pull them up & down for using the potty if you are out. At home we used underwear.
My son was 20 lbs also & wore pullups at night & at friends for the 6 weeks it took to train him & now he wears underwear 24/7. Urine was easy poop took some positive reinforcement :) Buy 2T & wash/dry them every time you do a hot load of laundry (even if she hasn't worn them) & they'll shrink a little bit (assuming you buy cotton).

Skip the pull ups and go straight for the big girl panties! My daughter was 18 months when she was potty trained so we had the same problem.
i think they still make the really think underpants. if i remember they are made by gerber. they have the padding in the bottom and are pretty absorbant. i didn't really use pull ups... they stink...lol!
I was about to tell you the same thing that Becky just wrote to you. I dont do pull ups with my kids. I have used on both the training pants/panties. They come in cute colors and prints. You can find them at walmart or target. They are in the baby section were they sell the socks, bibs and stuff like that. They feel like a big girl cause they have "panties". My kids loved them. They hold a bit of pee, but not to much. The good thing is they feel peed and uncomfertable making them more aware of the process. Hope this helps.
I'm with the other ladies - go straight for panties! Have her run around naked for a few days while she's in the initial phase of potty training and once she's pretty reliable with it, have her wear real underwear.
I agree with going straight to panties. They have 2T-3T panties in the baby section at Target near the baby undershirts.
It took my daughter 3 days to pp train and 3 weeks to poop train. We finished 2 weeks ago. You just have to put her in panties and a shirt and let her run around. Stay close so you recognize when she needs to go so you can rush her to the potty. Don't scold her, just tell her she needs to go in the potty now that she's a big kid.
I do confess I put a poise pad ($5 for 72 much less than pull ups!!!) in her panties at night. Most of the time she sleeps dry, but this helps keep me sane. Also, I have put 3 sets of fitted sheets with liners between each sheet on her bed. If she has an accident that leaks, I can get her cleaned up, remove the layers to where it's dry and put her back in bed quickly.

i had the same prob w/ both of my kids. i just had my daughter wear panties and let my son run around naked for a while and then put him in underwear too. if your worried about the mess get plastic panties to place over them. the pullups are too much like diapers IMO. i used to work in a daycare and in my experience the panties/underwear work much better.
Yep, skip the pull ups, they are a waste of time and money. Gerber makes training pants with a thick padded crotch in a size 18mos/2T and they are small. Hanna Andersson and Gymboree both make size 18mo undies too. They are a bit spendy but they last and never wear out. Also if you look at www.etsy.com you can find sellers who make childrens underwear in any size you want, plus they are adorable!
We were in the same boat. Actually, we had no trouble with pull ups somehow. I believe the 2t is the smallest that you can get them, is it really way too big? Have you tried adjusting the sides a little to make them more snug? It worked for us.
