I have a little girl who will be 3 on oct 28 and we have starting potty training she has been doing good at home and when we are in public if I ask her she will go she hasnt gotten to the point of telling me for the exception on one time lastnight. Heres the problem she goes to the babysitters 2 days a weeks and will not go to the bathroom she uses her pull-ups the sitter says she crys. i tried to use underwear but she just p's in them. i tried to take her yesterday at the sitters house before we left and she got ready to cry and said I go potty at home. Does anyone have any advice or should i just keep everything going at home till she gets the hang of it?

What can I do next?

K., at her age she should definately be ready to potty train, and it sounds like you are having some success! YAY!! It's really hard to say why she won't go at the sitters, there might be something in the bathroom that makes her uneasy. Maybe you could go first, to show her there's nothing to be concerned about. My 3yr old had to have a stool to step up on for the longest time........she would refuse to let me put her up on the toilet!! We carried a fold-up step stool with us EVERYWHERE, I mean to Alaska and back!!!lol Now that she's tall enough, she can get up without one, in most cases. Good luck figureing it out, hoepfully it's just one small thing that you can get past and sail on through potty training!!

You are going the right way, however maybe you should decade yourselves to the house for one whole weekend and focus on her potty training since she has to go to the sitters. Also I have heard MANY people have bought their children the potty seats (the one to make the hole smaller) and let their child take it with them everywhere while training so the child is more at ease. I found that with my son, I had to TOTALLY eliminate the pull ups and let him go in his underwear, I even had to start making him change his own underwear so he didn't like the idea of having to touch the peed underwear. But i would eliminate the pull ups to me they send a mixed message, you will find what works for you and your daughter! Good Luck, this isn't the easiest stage, exciting but hard.

Your child is not any different from alot of people (adults and children alike)who like to go to the bathroom in their specific bathroom. I think that your daughter is doing a fine job. We really don't want to add anymore stess to potty training than the shear act of potty training already involves. I am sure that once she gets more comfortable with going the transition to using your sitters bathroom will be fine. Also you have to look at all the differences between the two bathrooms. Something as simple as the toilet is a newer one that is at "comfort seat hight" versus an old one that is lower may be enough of a difference that she may feel like she is falling in. Having her use a stool to get up there and to put her feet on to give her more stability may be all that is needed. Also make sure that the sitter isn't pushing the issue. Some do you know!!! If she gets upset about using the bathroom BACK OFF! As the saying goes "this to will come to pass." It is important to remember that potty training is not a developmental milestone. Everyones control of their bladder and colon mature at different rates. Your daughter will potty train, inspite of you and the sitter. She may be one of those, tho that will come running home from the bus and make a bee line to the bathroom because she is more comfortable in her own home in her own bathroom.

For some reason she is not wanting to go at the sitter's it may be that she is shy about asking for the help, or it breaks from her play time. Whatever the reason she is just not wanting to do it, but she sounds like she is getting ready when she is with you. I would keep encouraging her. My little girl didn't potty train til she was about 3 1/2 and I fought it and fought it, but she just didn't want to go all the time and when she was ready she did it, and to this day she is 5 1/2 she has never wet the bed or had any trouble. I did buy this thing called PODs. It looks like a large maxipad, and sits in their underwear. They can wet in it, but unlike pull ups it doesn't remove the moisture they still feel it and it is very uncomfortable. The company gives a quarantee that your children will potty train using these. I don't know if that is something would be willing to try but here is a website you can purchase them at if so www.pottytrainingsolutions.com good luck

I wouldn't stress out about it. She will do it in her own time. Have you tried buying a child size toliet seat to put on the toliet? WalMart has them. We have an Elmo one for my 3 yr old son. It goes everywhere with us!! Just keep encouraging her. Try to see if something is bothering her about the babysitters bathroom. She may just be shy about using the potty somewhere else, without mom around.
