I am trying my hardest to get my 2yrold to potty train. She has gotten the princess pull-ups, dora, pooh and tinker bell undies and still no go. She goes Pee-pee but she will not do number two she would rather go in her pull up. She has just started to let my husband and i know about it and that she needs to go to the potty. Any advice on how to get her to go? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks....

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

So she does like to flush the toilet and watch everything go down. She likes her potty chair and is trying to go #2 in to toilet. she says she doesn't want to get her potty chair dirty. So We will continue to try and see what happens. Talk about stress. I am so tired of changing diapers i am ready to scream... They mad stink. Thanks Ladies for the advice. Mad praise and patience are the keys and i just need to find the right lock to put them in.

She's just not ready yet.
With my first child, I had my son on a schedule of going on the potty every 20-30 minutes (depending on how much he'd had to drink). This started when he was around 2 years old.
He was 100% out of diapers by 3.5 years. (We had two incidents with diarrhea that scared him to go #2 and that set us back, but over time we overcame that).
My daughter, now almost 2.5, started using the potty at 18 months because she saw her brother. Other than when she sleeps, she is 100% potty-trained.
I had no agenda or time set for getting them potty-trained, it will happen when it happens. As a former teacher, I can attest that all children are potty-trained by the time they go to Kindergarten.
Don't be disappointed at her set-backs (although it's very frustrating!), just keep trying without great expectations.
Good luck, it will happen

R...perhaps she's just not ready yet. 2 is still VERY young. why not just give her more time, and stop making yourself work so hard and stress about it?
the world moves so fast these days. i think it's important to let our kids grow up in a reasonable time frame. She'll be grown before you know it and you won't even remember she wouldn't poop in the potty at 2! good luck. my advice: let her be.
you have all the right things in place when she's ready. J.

Hi R.,
Well my 2yrold son is completely potty trained and what worked awsome for him was the first week i taped up a piece of construction paper on the back of the door in the bathroom and everytime he went in the potty he got to pick out a smily face sticker and place it on his awards board. He got bored with that after a week so everytime he went in the potty i started giving him 2 skittles, it worked like a charm. Obviously give lots of praise when the potty is used and when accidents happen just remind them to do better next time. A great tip his daycare teacher told me was to go straight from diapers to underwear and only use pullups at night. The first few days were messy but it worked because he didn't like being wet and uncomfortable. Hang in there and stay positive, hope my experience helped.

Just keep at it. Eventually it will click in her head and she will start going poopy and pee pee in the potty on her own.

With DS it took until he was just shy of 3 to get it. We still have a few accidents here and there, but for the most part he goes on his own.

Just keep at it and be consistent.

You are almost there! Both of my boys were the same. They'd prefer to go #2 in their diapers. I'd take the diaper filled with poop and put it in the toilet and they would watch it flush down. I'd praise the poop going down the toilet. "Bye bye poopy!" I didn't scold them when they'd go in their diaper. I'd say, "it is ok, next time let's see if you can in the potty."

Soon they'd want to see the poopy go down the toilet and would try to sit on the toilet. If they'd even try, I'd praise like mad. Then once they did in the toilet, it was a few days back in the diaper and a few in the toilet and soon all days in the toilet.

Don't stress. You are almost there.

we went through the same thing. we tried everything to make my 2.5 yr. old girl go number 2 finally we tried a sticker chart. It didn't work at first but we are in week 2 and she gets so excited she finally started to go. we do the poo-poo dance and gets an extra big sticker when she goes poo poo she likes it and it encourages her to go in the potty not her pull-up.
hope that helps
