Every child is different and some are not ready at the age of 2. It may take time but you need to have patience. If you force or push to hard for your child to go on the potty all the time children will rebel....which means alot more accidents.
My two year old should be starting potty training - any advice on this?

Hello! It depends on a lot of things. Is your child a boy or a girl? What is his/her actual age? You say that they should be starting potty training. Is there a reason you feel this way? Are you seeing signs of interest or are you concerned about the age? With my older two we did the naked thing, and it worked great. Never an accident and they were totally trained in days.
A couple of things. Getting a potty, especially for them, and putting it in the bathroom ahead of time to help them get thinking about the potty. My husband and I use to take our son in the bathroom with us and had him sit on the potty while we went. Once he was old enough, we started using a reward system- with stickers and/or change...whatever works for them. We also did a kick-off, if you will. I took my son outside and had him only wearing a short and some aqua socks. This way, when he would go to the bathroom, he would see what he was doing and relate the feeling to what was happening. We also bought training pants and big boy underwear as extra incentives.
There is no exact or right way to potty train. Go with what your child responds to and don't get frustrated. It will happen!
My 2 and 1/2 year old has used the potty and then for some seemingly unknown reason became very defiant and negative about using it so, heeding the advice of her pediatrician, I have backed off. She now uses public toilets but seems to have skipped the step of using it at home. Other moms tell me it will happen. We will see. Best of luck.
