Hi S.!
I have just conquered the potty training dilema for the 2nd time with my 2nd child, and in my opinion your step daughter is not ready. Trust me you can pull out all the stops, but if they are not ready and cooperative, it will never happen. My daughter will be 3 the end of next month, and we just got her trained, and at first it was against her will, but she is very stubborn, and she finally in these last 2 weeks became cooperative.I think also that if you wait til she is ready and more cooperative, it happens a lot faster, with less messes!
Good luck!

Maybe she's not ready yet. Every child is different. I potty trained my son at three it took me 1 week. My sister has a 2 1/2 year old and she is trying but the baby is not ready she won't do it. I would suggest keep trying but don't force it. She will eventually come around.

My son is going to be 2 at the end of this month and we are working on the potty training thing too. We have had a lot of success thus far, although I havent kept very high expectations. It was my sons idea to use the potty but at the time,(about a month and half ago) i was sure he just wasnt ready. I bought him a potty anyway but never pushed him to use it. He goes in his potty when he wants to and he goes in his diapers when he is too busy playing, forgets, or just cant make it. When he uses his potty I try to make a big deal about it, and when he has to use his diapers I just remind him that he has a potty and maybe next time we can use it. I dont make a big deal about it though, although he usus the potty more than his diapers. Its been over a month now and I think whats worked for us is just that ultimately it is his decision. I think he will be almost fully trained soon but Im in no rush. Whenever he is ready. Just knowing that he's got the notion down is a big relief to me. At least now I know he wont be in diapers forever! LOL ;)

I wish you all the best of luck. Just be patient and Im sure your step daughter will come around.

I hate to say it but perhaps she isn't ready?

personally I would not push it. I would make time each day to let her be naked & when she starts to pee or poop, put her ob the potty & make a big deal of it.

I also like cloth trainers for around the house

I bought snap-ez brand- they're cotton so they seem like big kid underwear, yet they have snaps so you can get a messy one off...

My daughter is 4 - and still wont do it! She is very good at putting her own diaper on herself however! :) If you find a magic way - let me know - cause save for chaining her to the potty - I've tried it all - and nothing has worked!!
