My son just turned 2 and I know he is not ready to potty train yet but I was wondering if you all had any suggestions of a great book on the topic. I am hoping that I'm wrong but I have a feeling it might be very difficult to get him potty trained. He still isn't telling me when he is wet and when he poops he hides his eyes and acts embarassed. So any suggestions would be great I just want to be as prepared as I can be before he starts the process.

What can I do next?

K., Once upon a potty is a good one, my sons loved the video. It seems kind of silly, but they liked it. I think it's actually a good sign that he seems embarassed by the poop thing, he knows it's something big. Just reassure him that it's OK and everybody poops. There is actually a book by that name (Everybody Poops) I'm not a huge fan of that book.

Good Luck, M.

Our boys loved Potty Poo-Poo Wee-Wee, by Colin McNaughton. Don't worry about how hard it is to train; when the child is ready, it is fairly easy. Be aware that some boys are not ready until age four (I know that sounds like a long time to be changing diapers!--LOL) As a mother of four boys, I can tell you that it is best when they are ready and that may vary with each child (my oldest trained at 3 1/2 yrs, one twin at 35 months, one twin at 3 3/4yrs., and one at four. It was an overnight experience for all but one of my sons; it was so worth waiting! Less hassle, less accidents! Also, remember daytime control often precedes night time control. Best of luck and enjoy your little prince!

You might be a bit early for him, as my boy didn't start until he was 3 an then it was taking him to potty could get him to pee but not no. 2 so it was waiting game no matter how much you tried he still would go poop in his pants. So all you can do is keep trying he may not be completely ready for the big boy potty.
