K.D.
I never used a potty training book. At 2 they are very smart so I believed in rewarding them. (bribing more like it) You haven't' said if your 2 yr old is a boy or girl so here goes.
With all 3 or my daughters I told them if they kept there clothes dry for 3 days they get to go to toys r us and pick out what they want. I also brought two changes of clothes with me and after that we had to put the diaper back on and one last thing is I stayed in the house for the first two days with a timer for every ten minuets and did not ask them I just took them with me to the bathroom. My eldest was trained at 17 months (started at 16 months when someone gave her big girl panties when her sister was born), 2nd was 18 months and my 3rd was 20 months.
there is also a window from 16 months until 24 months that they are very interested in potty training after that it gets harder. ( this info I collected from interviewing parents and friends of mine.)
A little about me:
I was a teacher of 3yrs until last sept. were i decided to go back to college.
Good luck and I wish you well....
