Okay so switch to chocolate chips. One chip for potty. Or instead buy those mini m&m's. One teeny tiny m&m. Stickers are nice too...for some kids.
My 2 year old is in the middle of potty training. He has the pee part down it is #2 that is the problem(as usual). Anyway, I started giving him a treat everytime he peed in the toilet. Usually a Hershey Kiss. He has now turned into a chocolate junky! He goes to the bathroom a million times a day just to get the chocolate. I tried to tell him he only gets it for #2, but that is not really working. I give in pretty easily :(
So, what are some "prizes"you have used for potty training??
Thanks.
J.

For my son, I made a racetrack and he got to put a sticker or stamp everytime he peed and washed his hands, and 2 stamps/stickers for every #2. At the end of the racetrack was a winner's circle that had a picture of a matchbox car. When he had enough stamps and made it to the "finish line" he got the car.
we used tiny m and ms. 3. one for going, 1 for pulling pants up and 1 for washing hands. or licorice bites, or a tiny bite of beef stick or jelly bellies (he picks the oolors) stickers and stamps didn't work for us. we have the opposite issue. poop no prob, its the pee he can't figure out!
We started going through a lot of chocolate with our twin boys, too, so we started giving them Goldfish crackers. It doesn't sound like much, but they love Goldfish crackers, so I simply give them one each time they go pee and they're still excited about it. I've also given them yogurt-covered raisins or yogo-bites. We're still trying to get them to go poop on the potty, so we promised them they could have a stuffed animal when they go poop on the potty for the first time (though at this point, I'd probably give them just about anything for that :).
I read an idea on this board about using toys, trinkets and books from the dollar store. You can wrap them up and put them in a bucket -- and let him pick one for his reward. I'm just starting potty training, but my daughter loves getting a new book. And for 50-cents to a dollar per book, it is affordable.
We've used M&M's, stickers, & pretzels for pee. Now for poop we're using anything that will work...which is nothing at this time! A cookie, a popsicle, a hotwheels car, stickers...when he fills up a chart he can have a Thomas Train. I love the M&M's b/c they are so small. We haven't been too successful yet though so maybe others have better ideas that have worked! Good Luck!
my son LOVES stickers so I went to the dollar store and bought a bunch of stickers (little ones...stars, smilies, etc) and that seemed to work great...we had the same problem you did with the treats...i was giving him an m&m every time he went, but he started going like 20 times a day! it was ridiculous!
I used m&ms. I would have just given one in hindsight, I did two. He would do that to me to and then I would say no more and are you hungry. He usually only did this when he was hungry.
