Hi C. -

Because your son did not quite make it to the three week mark, when habits are truly formed, he may have just had a great practice stretch at being potty trained. I say this only because my daughter at one was "potty trained" for about two weeks, and we all thought that she was some kind of prodigy - WRONG! Turns out that she was just practicing. She's two now and nearly completely potty trained, but we're not pushing her. She's doing everything on her own, and it's great. My son was three years old when he was potty trained for the day, and 3.5 when he stopped wetting his bed. Most boys take a bit longer to get potty trained, so at 29 months, I wouldn't worry too much about your son's relapse. He'll come around again especially if he goes to preschool and sees the other boys going to the potty alone.
Blessings to you and yours!

Maybe he got scared of the potty it does make a lot noise or maybe he fell in when you werent looking. Sometimes they just go backwards because they are not ready. Did you force him to use the potty? My oldest son did the same thing to me and after a few weeks of keeping on him about using the potty he finally just started doing it. I know it sounds mean but I had to make my son sit in his poopy pants for like 5 minutes for him to understand that it is time to use the potty like a big boy and that worked for me. Good luck hope this has been some help for you.

Hi C.:
I agree with Carolyn. I pushed my first child because of family pressure and it was nothing but a fight. When my second child came along I just waited until she was ready and it was so easy. Your son will do it when he is ready. Look at it this way, as long as your son isn't sitting in school with a diaper on it's fine and the chances of that happening are slim. Take care, T.

Hi
It could be something happened at daycare that startled him when he was in the bathroom and he is now afraid. Ask the day care if he was scared while in the bathroom. My daughter now 13 fell into the toilet when she was just getting potty trained, it scared her and it took a long time to get her to the point she wasn't afraid of the toilet again. You just have to keep tring and reassure him it is ok.
